Topic: New 'need to acknowledge' - Canada's greatest hits

Author: subculture Original Message Posted: Aug 19 2007 8:39PM

The other thread gave me an idea for a topic that might be more harmonious... how would we rank the greatest foos achievements of Canadian players?

What's the Top 25 all-time? Top 50?

I can think of a couple to start...

- Eric and Mario's success last year in Italy! Beating Rico, and it's on YouTube!
- Mario and Kane's 2nd place in Open Doubles in KY State 2007 (beating many PM's including Pappas/Park)
- Moya... where to start? Winning Open Mixed as FWD is huge. She's a Foosworld "All Time Great" with good reason.
- Moya's "triples" have to rank up there too.
- Eric and Merv winning 3500 at Nationals

C'mon, time to toot your own horns here (lots of people good at that in the other thread )

youtube?? link it up!! i have the inside foos version, but we're on youtube? nice!

That's my all time highest highlight - mario and i made a great multi-table team. just 2 points Mario and we could of taken it home mario!!! arrgghhhhh!

beating rico in singles was so nice - i still have vivid images in my head of actual shots i took and stuff - and then still having it together to win my next match against sergie. I still have the match card in my foosroom at home.

a personal highlight was me winning the qualifier to get on the world cup team - sorry darrel - that rag on meat-nut was so bad.

jeep and i finishing 5th in OD at this years HOFC - beating yore and atha. One of my best finishes playing forward on tour.

I think i got 5th in championship singles a few years back - beat mares at that one.

Mario's had some nice OS finishes on tour - got a 4th once i think.

VIFA full team - AB boys kicked ass all over VIFA this year - what event was it that you didnt win - oh yeah.. matt choked (could of trippled) in singles and only got 2nd. LOL

I've already told you the greatest achivements of all time is me beating Mitch in singles and doubles back in 1983 Singles and Doubles...just ask him.

Author: Superfly Reply #3 Posted: Aug 20 2007 1:33AM

You think i'm kidding.

Author: Psycho-semi-pro Reply #4 Posted: Aug 20 2007 2:26AM

Mitch winning Super singles in Spokane. Beat Jeep in the finals after finishing 5th (or so-lost to AZ-his 3-bar got destroyed with the least effort I've EVER seen against Mitch's 3-bar) for top-pro in OS.

Author: Psycho-semi-pro Reply #5 Posted: Aug 20 2007 2:30AM

Peter Kosuljandic and Paul Pantazopoulos winning Rookie Doubles at the World's in 1992. Vince and I wining tables at the worlds in 1996. The same year Rico won his first table as a SP (Todd Lafredo and Scotty Wydman won OD that year I believe).

Tim finally getting his air mattress blown up (no wait-I don't think he ever got it fully blown up). LMAO

This subculture guy seems to know what he is talking about. But that is just my opinion.

"matt choked (could of trippled) in singles and only got 2nd"

Eric

Jim sent me a copy of the match and I watched it on DVD and that's not how it played out, thank you. Not that VIFA is a huge thing as really only 2 provinces really play in it and maybe 6 different states.

Author: foosghost Reply #10 Posted: Aug 20 2007 10:56AM

yeah, i wasnt saying he choked in the match, i never saw it, nor heard about it - other than somebody (darrel i think) telling him during the match to not screw this up because if he wins matt would be the only guy to ever triple at a VIFA event.

i meant choked in that he didnt triple.

Sorry Matt,

ps.. you still gotta find a better smile if you're planning to continue winning events!! B-) (personal joke)

My best achievements:
1994? U.S. Nationals State DYP 1st Place
1994? U.S. Nationals Open Singles 9th Place
1995? U.S. Kickoff Open Doubles 5th Place
2002 World's International Cup 3rd Place

Seems like a long time ago ...

Gerry Meister had two 7th Place finishes in Open Doubles at the Worlds, back in late 80s, early 90s?

Mitch won 2-Ball on Dynamo at the Worlds back when dinosaurs roamed.

One of my greatest accomplishment to date had to be my first tornado BYP. I just started playing tornado. I played with Jason Kin at Vinnie's for a tornado table.

The tournament with Jason Kin was a tournament i will never forget. I skipped the fabi tournament so i could focus on tornado while everyone was playing fabi i was learning how to brush pass. I never seen anyone really brush pass so i only heard about it. I hammered a wall and i would always wait for it. My lane was slow but i had a hitch that looked like i was going to the wall. I had king seat beating everyone quite easily except when i got to the finals. Jay and i played two guys from Quebec Druwin who was the forward with an awesome euro and a Ok 5 thank god. His partner i don't remember but he was really patient and had a OK D. They beat us the first set 2 straight. It was perty crazy so we took a couple of minutes and than played the 2nd set we took the first game they answered back taking the 2nd game. Than it was 4-4 Jay has the ball in the back in the pull shot position he waits nails a ripper in the only hole open i block and catch the ball set it up in the snake position wait for about 20 seconds looking for a hole, the goalie is moving so fast he is sweating his brains out. Call my first time out of my life. You should of seen his face when i called the timeout it was like he saw a ghost. Walk back to the table set up and wait about 10 seconds and rip a short pull side snake. He was all over my push side cause that's all i was doing to everyone the hole tournament. He was piggy backing the push-side it was awesome.

Thats funny i cant wait till Olavo, Sean, Merv, Manny, Hugo, Mike, loius, Dennis and the guys from montreal and not to mention the fabi players. In that time fabi was what i new and all the fabi players came out for that. fabi players never wanted to switch over but they sure did try it out and did well. It was nice to know that i was the best on fabi and than put Tornado in my pocket that was an amazing feeling. Sean and Olavo a couple months before that they came 2nd in Rookies at the Hall of Fame Classic in Las Vegas. 2 Years in a row.

Olavo was the one that showed me how to brush pass on friday night at the DYP. Who could of thought that i would be able to pass at such a high percentage on my 5 to 3 with 4 hours of practice. That to me is perty impressive. I played better on my first tournament on Tornado than all my Tornado friends with 4 hours of practice.

That was the beggining of the stampeed that is on its way to Las Vegas. You should join us. We are prepared for going into the desert. We have lots of water and food.

I would challenge anyone on a fabi. There is not a sole in the sky that could beat me except for maybe Kane(lol) in sigles that is.

Author: subculture Reply #20 Posted: Aug 23 2007 9:51PM

Lol, Mario they're trash-talking each other, not you man.

So when are you getting me a free 407 transponder with unlimited usage?

And with this thread, I was trying to get a list of the Top 25 achievements by Canadians, not moments that meant the most to you. That's a great idea for ANOTHER thread you should start.

Don't tell me winning that Tornado tournament with Jay (as exciting as that was) was a more difficult and significant achievement than winning Rookie Doubles in Vegas with me on your first try! (Hmmnn.. unless you're saying that playing with me made it so easy, in which case I'm okay with that!)

Also, I'M the FABI KING NOW! I can hit a frickin' scorpion on it from the back! Blindfolded and on one foot!

Author: Psycho-semi-pro Reply #21 Posted: Aug 24 2007 4:05AM

I hit lots of shots on one foot Sean. What are you trying to say?

If that is not trash talking i don't know what is. I hope your going to Las Vegas Tony cause i want to do worse to you on Tornado than i did to you the last time in Vegas, than I'm taking you out for dinner.

Cant wait to see everyone even your shit talking ass Tony. LOL.

If you dont like me you dont like yourself...
