For the 500 Euro's, why don't we just get everyone to chip in $36.64 each-those that consider themselves serious foosers. The amount listed is if we have 20 people only. I'd certainly be willing to chip in (I mean come on, we all spend approx $1000 every time we travel to a major) so $36.64 isn't very much, I don't think. Other's opinions?

I don't mind that. For the amount of work I see other people putting in for free, I don't think $37 bucks is a problem.

I am happy to pay my fee as In a few years I will be old enough to fight Meister and Slow for the Senior Champion of Canada!!!
Any other near 50 or 50+ guys ready to buck up?
|
|
maybe I'll wait till I'm 50 and see if my arthritis permits me to play.
seriosly.....I would have no problem with paying the suggested membership fees as long as I could see that it gave me the opportunity to compete for a position on "team Canada". More than likely that means I would pay at the time of entry into some sort of Western qualifying tournament

how about we combine the singles and the doubles points together and the top 3 highest dont have to pay, cause just look at Oprah, the more successfull she gets, the more free things she gets.
|
|
The more successful Oprah gets, the more fat she gets, the more cellulite she gets, the more wrinkles she gets. I hate to have to do this but for once I agree with Suppergetfed1.
Although I disagree with the top three don't have to pay. Why should Robbie have to kick in extra for me?
|
|
its kinda like in the wild, survival of the fittest if ur a lion and u twist ur ankle and cant run ur toast
|
|
Again, let's all just kick in $37 (I agree, Robbie shouldn't have to pay for Tim)!
|
|
Robbie is a lion with a twisted ankle? Or is he just toast?

I'd agree with everyone chipping in a specified amount as part of the dues. It would be good to get a full fledged website to create a professional looking appearance.
Had I any skill in this area I'd volunteer but I am clueless when it comes to the internet. Sadly my computer skills extend as far as checking my e-mail.
If the exec. comes up with a dollar value I'm sure most would be willing to chip in.

i think everyone should pay if they want membership membership has it's rewards :p
top 3 doesn't work cuz that can change anytime, is a pain in the ass to track, and leans to favouritism

The following is Eric's post cut-and-pasted from the admin board. ....two good ideas worth discussing....:
Another possibility is to hold a raffle.
Due to Canada finishing 2nd (at the worlds), the team won I think around $1000 in valley bucks (only to be used towards the purchase of a new tornado foosball table).
We could hold a raffle, for $50 a ticket (or some number), we could order a table and have it shipped to the winner.
Or heck skip the middle man. anyone planning on buying a table in the near future.. Trade us for the valley bucks - and we can pay for our membership, and you still get your table.
It'll make a nice Christmas present!! B-)

I like the raffle eda, but $1000 isn't going to cover a table that most reallty serious players will be happy with. Knowing they will have to put out considerably more money t turn their raffle win into a good table could seriously limit the number of foosers buying tickets.
...so I like the second idea better. have somebody pay the membership dues (was it $680?) in exchange for the $1000 Tornado bucks. The first person to come up with the money saves about $300 off a new table, and we can start worrying about the membership drive to pay for next years dues......win-win.

Everyone should pay especially the top three. They already get out much more than they put in financially to a foosball community.
They should also help newer players to iprove their game. Robbie, Tuano, Peter, Moya, Robert, Tim and Richard all helped me at times.
I have tried to help dozens of newer players here in Asia.
If pro-masters want to get more out of the pot they need to be reminded to help to increase the size of the pot by showing newer players how to play.
Beginner and Intermediate players can help with web sites, running tournaments, reffing matches, table maintenance, etc.
If we all try to put in more we will all get out more. Every player at every level.
