Topic: Foosbal Freddy Returns to Vancouver
|
|
OK, Only for a week while I reorganize our stuff in our move to Florida. Maybe Tim can help me with some floral print wardrobe choices. Shinhacker can teach me how to shave my head to look like a rapper, etc.
I should be there in about 2 weeks.
Who knows maybe even we could play some foosball? What a concept...

Announcement: I will be throwing in a flying fifty for the Freddy Classic Friday, August 22nd at Soho.
I will be traveling tomorrow and then complaining about jet lag for a few days. I may show up during the week to practice my beer drinking at Soho if anyone is interested.
Any oldtimers coming to the Freddy Classic? Superfly? Shinhacker? Red Pepper? Timbellina? Spinner? Van_Can_Foos? Raven? Next One? Lloyd? Anyone inviting Mitchi and Pete? Jerry? Ricardo? Craig? La Tielens and Le Tielens? Bernie? Mike? Hoping all the newer players will make it out as well to kick my butt all the way to Miami...
Please invite anyone else I am forgetting?
If I get a say, I say Pro/Am RotoDoubles!!
I will even be wearing a cup in case Eduardo Ciminiello shows up to break some balls...

Sure thing Fred, i'm on holidays from Aug 16 to Sept 1 so yeah, i'm game .

See you there! Let's get out in force gents. The last freddy classic was a hell of a good turnout and a blast to play in.

Cool. Nice to see there is life in Vancouver Foosball afterall.
PLUS: New stories to tell of Foosball in Taiwan and Shenzhen. Including how I beat the top singles player from Germany (it involved my spies getting him drunk the night before). Photos of the Chinese Beer Girls who with my training beat up all the foreigners at Foosball.
Link to a photo of Vancouver Foosball's new location in Florida (aka my wife and my new back yard as viewed from my soon to be purchased Tornado foosball table): http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=111454&id=1034177309
All this and Tim Dudra. Ooops, I went too far didn't I?

I'll be there to put down my partners and put a foot through the wall.
|
|
I'll maybe attend but only in a semi-definite sense, assuming that I am able, willing or conscientious enough.
|
|
Count the Cortez bros in. Maybe Terance too.

Hey Fred,
Sorry I missed you last night I'm hoping you will be around next Sunday as well. I was out on a skateboarding tour with my son and two of his friends that are moving away to Ontario in a week. (Bonsor bowl and a few others around town)
I am sure a good time was had by all I am going to see if I can replace at least the worst table there by next Sunday. Don't all pass out as I still have to arrange transportation hehe.
take care, Peter

I tried to be there but ended up working late. It would have been nice to see more then 4 people play foos at once.

Wow,
Fun day of foosball yesterday.
Afternoon at Tuan's and had Robbie show up as well. The dogs didn't bite me and I even took a few games off them. Lots of fun. Thanks Tuano
Evening at Sohos Peter K, John, Harvey, Steve Lim, Terrance, and me. Played all night. Felt like the old days. Thanks guys.
Late night for a few games at Dave Ahn's along with Harvey. Just back from Bonzini-world I was able to take a couple of games off Dave. I doubt I will be as lucky on Friday night at Sohos. Daves dog seemed to like Harvey. He seemed to really like Harvey. I don't think Harvey was into it but after I left who knows??? Thanks Dave, I will try to not be so late next time.
Hopefully more foos tonight.
Good to be back.
Nice to hear from those who posted and looking forward to seeing you guys soon.
Raven? Slow? You guys around? Anyone able to invite Mitch for Friday night?

Hey, good seeing you again Fred, and nice playing with you John. The B-line driver floored it for me and I made the SkyTrain with minutes to spare.

Hello from Florida,
Thanks again for all who made it out to the tourney last night. It was great seeing everyone again.
A special thanks to John, Dave, Harvey, Robbie and Tuan for all the phone calls and postings and all the organizing of times to play. Also, thanks for the playing tips, etc. from everyone. It was great to be able to play every night against better players once again.
Richard, always great to see you and to try to figure out what the heck you will do next on the table. Jeff your funsy skills are sick. But my shitty old bank shot is ready for the next time you do another back wall pass on me. Ha ha.
An extra big thanks to Dave for carrying me on your back to victory! Your shot is amazing.
Good luck to those who are off to Vegas. I might see you there next year.
Please stay in touch everyone.
Hasta La Vista - Baby!
Fred
PS Tim, some old retired guy here in Florida is asking for his loud, ugly Hawaiian shirt back. I think he has an Elks Club function he needs to wear it to. Not to worry, I sent him your email address.

It was great seeing you again Fred. I'll either see you in Vegas next year, or maybe stop in if I hit up the east coast. The bank, btw, is the only funsy shot I can't do.

|
where are you living in florida fred?
|
|
We are living in Fort Lauderdale in a condo on the ocean. Life is rough. I will post photos soon.
We are expecting to be here for about 3 years.
|
|
I don't want to say the 'H' word, but i hope it's not in the ocean on a condo anytime soon Freddy. I just google earthed the place and all i gotta say is with all those canals you're gonna need a boat to get around lol .
P.S. Have you found anyplace to play at yet, i know you just got there but i also know you do your research ha ha .

Fred did you play in the same tourny that I did?!! IF I recall, you played like...great. Well composed, executed offensively and on defense. Your shot is very hard to read which makes it dangerous.
Thanks for all the gifts Fred, truly a memorable week.

Dave, Thanks for the kind words and I played ok at times but you carried the team. Overall we complemented each other very well and didn't get stuck too many times which is the key in Roto Doubles. I thought I played pretty good on your table though. The second highlight was taking money off Tuan for you. Ha ha.
Fly, we already had one Hurricane last week that turned into a tropical storm at the last moment. My wife slept through all of it. Our place is quite new so up to all the codes for being Hurricane proof (if there is such a thing). We have water, flashlights, canned food put aside and friends inland with a standing invitation to go there if necessary. Thanks for the concern but I am more concerned with Tornados than with Hurricanes. Tornado foosball tables that is.
On my look see visit a couple of months ago I connected up with several of the players here and played in 2 events. I finished 4th and 1st in two doubles competitions. They ranked me as a rookie - Poor suckers! I guess I can use my Florida foosball sandbags in case there is another Hurricane though. Ha ha.
Lots of good players here but the very best ones are in central Florida. If gas was cheaper I would be going up there all the time.
Our place is at 4240 Galt Ocean Drive, Fort Lauderdale. So you can search on Google Earth to check out my bald spot from time to time. It is a really nice area. On a lot of those canals nearby are yachts bigger than my house was back in White Rock. I wonder what gas costs for those relics?
Anyway, stay in touch everyone.
Regards,
Fred
