Both tables were cleaned including the bearings, the new table should play better with a bit of use. I hear the new table is out of level I'll check it tonight. I'll bring in a set of new bearings soon for the 3's and 2's of both tables and swap out the worst bearings. New bearings on used tables usually need a little wearing in until they preform at their peak.
About the table conditions... It seems like a long time ago that I would replace any man that even had a small piece of shoulder missing. Yes I used to do that but I found that more and more it was happening and bumpers that were fine one week would be demolished the next. After a while it gets discouraging and I found myself being personally insulted by the table treatment. I think that some players have trained themselves into slamming the rods when things are not going their way. I'm asking for a little consciousness about actions at the table. It is only a game being played at a local tournament with amateurs.
Also on that note if you want new players to play, you must treat them nicely and with respect. Not many players have the personal desire to improve that will outweight the pompous attitute that is often displayed by their partners.
I am not complaining, I just think it is time my feelings/actions were explained.
I have balls for the tables but I'm not sure what should be done with them, within a week or so of new ones being put into the tables they go missing. I would like it if you all had new balls that would last. If anyone has any ideas on this let me know.

I had a chance to play on the table last night. The new table brought in needs serious bearing replacement on all 3 and 5 bars. I brought a bottle of lube and tried to lube them up but it was still no good. 3-bar on the old table black side was good, no changes needed. 3-bar on yellow side not so good, it may need a new bearing. 5-bars on old table is okay, just needs a bit of cleaning.
As far as 2-bar and goalie goes...I don't really find it too important really. I can't speak for others though.
Pete, I understand that you get discouraged that parts need replacing every week. However, unless it's the same bumper every week on the same table...these things disintegrate. I don't mind if the men are slightly chipped at all as long as it's not completely cracked to the pin or the pin is broken.
I haven't seen players slam rod the last few weeks I have been showing up either. At least not what I would consider as damaging the table ie Rocket Rod style.
I understand that you don't want to replace the same things every week; however, you have to also realize that it also upsets the regular players that the tables are not up to par. I have not been the most active as of late but I am coming out more now but to come back and see that the tables are in poor condition persuades me not to.
I don't think it's fair to let one bad apples ruin the bunch because honestly I don't think most players are ruining the table...I have never seen Robert, Jeff, John, Harvey, either of the Cortez brothers, etc. do anything that intentionally "destroys" the table.
As far as players acting out, I think you are right about that. Everyone needs to behave. However, let me ask you this...do I have the right to tell them to be quiet? No I don't because I don't run the tables/tournaments and I'm not Glen. I think the only two people who have that right is either Glen or you to be honest. But Glen is not there on Sundays/Fridays and neither are you. I'm not saying you always have to be there because you have a family and that's important but occasionally would be nice or let someone you trust do it.
As far as the balls go...I really don't know about people "stealing" them. But why not try it at least once? Or have tournament balls inside the table or locked up somewhere? New balls don't last forever. I would say after a month of use they should be switched out (I'm talking about being used all the time here). One ball costs 5 dollars, a new rack is 45 dollars. I think one Friday night could cover the cost and more.
I can't weekly commit to showing up every week because I still have 4 months of classes left. But if you remember, I was really keen on getting a good player base going. If you read my previous post, I don't think we need weekly tournaments, maybe once a month would suffice with higher buy-ins/payouts and also concurrent with an "amateur" tournament to feed the new players. If you want to do this format, I would volunteer my time for this at the same time maintenance the tables since it only means I have to go run a tournament every 2 weeks or so. ie Amateur and lower tournament runs mid month and open tournament is first friday or sunday of every month.
I'm not trying to attack you or anything but I really honestly want to see foosball grow in vancouver because at this point I'd almost rather go to Seattle to play in tournaments instead when they have their big one day hoop la's.

I will work on making the tables function properly so people can shoot their roll overs etc.
As for the tables being abused, recently it hasn't been as bad and it seems to go through spurts. I was more explaining where I was coming from and reacting to players grumblings about the table conditions... I wasn't going to put a bunch of effort in until I decided how was best for me to go about it.
Nelson said "As far as players acting out, I think you are right about that. Everyone needs to behave. However, let me ask you this...do I have the right to tell them to be quiet? I think that anyone involved in tournaments and concerned about the players atmoshere is free to voice their oppinion if they please. After all it is more a "players" event and the players are the ones that have to deal with lack of participation. I'm not saying that one person has the ability to kick someone out of a tournament but, if the majority of people present at a tournament say a players behavious is aweful I would say it is likely true. What to do is up for discussion.
If I were to be involved again weekly I would change how I run things. I would remove an obnoxious player from the tournament and upon re-occurance - remove for an extended period. The decision would not be personal as there isn't a local player I haven't been able to get along with. It is just how I would choose to now run things. I'm not there weekly so it's all hot air so to speak. I'll see after hockey season as I think my schedule will be changing at work.
No worries Nelson, I appreciate the input and the effort to explain yourself.

I can't think of anything positive that has come out of banning someone. When Mitch was banned, foosball in Vancouver has never been the same. The average amount of people that came out quickly dropped by 50% and after time nobody was even showing up. By the time he came back, foos was dead and he eventually left for good.
On the far table, I don't think you can set the ball on the 2 bar for a pull. If you set on the white line, its okay - but if you try to set near the wall, it will roll away. I am not sure if the leveling can fix that problem.
I used to bring balls to the tournament at Starlight, switch em out, and then back again after the tournament. This worked for a while, but I can't remember why we stopped doing it. Maybe we could keep a good set behind the bar for tournaments.

great idea!, a bag of good balls 4 just tournaments ,problem solved, i dont see any downside to that.

1st off. WTF Mitch got banned before!!!! One of this worlds true gents, class act all the way. I can't believe it. Must have been nothing character related.
