Is this something we can do? I got this email today from Valley:
Hello Players and Happy New Year's Eve!
I wanted to let everyone know that Tornado is making some changes to its Foosball LEAGUE System.
This year marks the 13th annual VIFA league season, and player participation is not at an acceptable level. We need to change the way we're doing things. WE NEED MORE PLAYERS!
To get more players, we are going to allow Promoters to become League Sponsors and start running Tornado Foosball Leagues (TFL). The only requirement is that the leagues are to be conducted on foosball tables IN LOCATIONS (bars, etc.). You cannot run the leagues in your basement. We want leagues in locations where people can see players having FUN playing foosball, and make no mistake, FOOSBALL LEAGUES ARE FUN!
If we can get more players in our leagues, we can throw an incredible Vegas League Championship with the great payouts that you've witnessed in the past.
Here's our plan in a nutshell...
1) Promoter's show us their commitment to run Tornado Foosball Leagues (TFL). The commitment will be in the form of $200.
2) Promoter's will run leagues on tables in locations and sanction their players. Sanction fees are $10 and will automatically make them a USTSA Member ($20 value).
3) Leagues can consist of 2-player teams, 3-player teams, 4-player teams or DYP's. We have Rulebooks, Scoresheets, Handicapping Options, etc. for every type of league)
4) If players play a minimum of 8 League Matches, they qualify for our Vegas League Championships (March 11-14, 2009).
Here's the kicker for Promoters...
5) For every player that you sanction ($10), we will refund you $10 (up to your $200 commitment). WE JUST WANT LEAGUE PLAYERS!
For $10, your players get involved in the sport that they love and become part of the Tornado Foosball League and the Tornado National Tour.
The bottom line is, FOOSBALL LEAGUES ARE FUN, especially for newer players who are able to learn the different skills of the game (FSO, GW, Singles, Doubles, 4-Man). And with handicapping, everyone can compete on a level playing surface. Give it a try.
I hope everyone has a safe and prosperous New Year.
