Topic: BUG: Entering Tournament

Author: Aged Whine & Cheese Original Message Posted: Jan 12 2009 3:16AM

Using Firefox

Tried to enter a tournament. Once all the teams and matches were entered, I clicked the "calculate results" and got the following error message:

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'
Could not find file 'C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\VancouverFoosball\httpdocs\db\foos_current.mdb'.
/panel/Calcdoubles.asp, line 51

Meanwhile, the calculation process just continues with the little foosman kicking the little foosball.

However, the tournament does seem to have been entered. Not sure if points were calculated properly.

Hmmm, eventually the kicking man went away and the results showed up on the page.

Strange, he thinks to himself, strange ...

Get a similar message when entering a singles tournament.

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'
Could not find file 'C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\VancouverFoosball\httpdocs\db\foos_current.mdb'.
/panel/CalcSingles.asp, line 51

Thank the great cod in the sea that I am no longer a computer geek and can simply run screaming when I see errors like this.

yeah that's what happens, it calculates and says kicking balls and doesnt do anything. I just wait a minute and then close it. Usually calculates.

The points did not get calculated properly. Look at it, most of you got 0 points for winning and losing. Weird. I'll try and delete this and re-enter it all tom unless someone has a better idea.

Snap, it just occured to me, nobody took the tournament balls back. How did you guys work that out before?

I'm concerned with the balls at soho. nobody took them out. I am assuming their still there for the public. Is someone going to be in that area to take em out?

I'll just call them now.

Just talked with Dan, and he never did anything like that in the past, but he said if he can find the old balls he'd swap em.

Soho 688.1180 if someone knows more.

I seldom look at this site so I apologize for the delay..

Regarding the error. I believe that this has something to do with the database location link.. Kid lightening should look at line 48 on both pages mentioned in the error. This is the part that needs to be adjusted:
"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source= d:\webspace\ADMIN\vancouverfoosball.com\db\foos.mdb"

*the above is from an old page I have on my computer...

The strange thing is... I don't understand why that would make a difference. My first thought without reading the error was that it had something to do with the date...

Also, if anyone has time they should change the database to MySQL. I didn't think the site would get that much use so I originally just used an Access database. I think the problem with the memory is because Access really isn't designed for this type of use... and I made the SQL queries too long. I'm not referring to the control panel for the site but instead just the pages that display the results.

Going back to the current problem. If changing the line I mentioned doesn't work please email me the ftp info and I'll correct the problem.

By the way, I'm in Santa Monica right now. I looked around for a place here to play but only found a place in Rosemead.. a bit too far for me as I don't have wheels while I'm here. I found a few bars with foosball tables but no place where people meet to play...

Its not that up to date but some of those places might work

Thanks Craig... I did check that website before and phoned all the places and not one was still active within LA.. The information is from 2002. It's no big deal though - I'm only going to be here for a few more weeks and I haven't played for such a long time I'd probably forget how to anyway...

By the way, did anyone correct the website problem?

Hi Jeff... thanks but that's the place I was talking about in Rosemead however I don't have wheels to get there.

I'm only going to be here for a few weeks and just have a bike with me. For some silly reason I thought LA would be a mecca center for foosball. Completely not the case what-so-ever.

Well, I suppose I should be spending my time chasing young girls anyway. As there is some really nice talent walking around.
