Topic: Tuesday March 3rd Upcoming Tournament

Author: Will Original Message Posted: Feb 25 2009 11:47AM

Next week will be the first Pro-Am Draw. It will be based on points, and new players will be categorized by the tournament director.

If 20 people are there, the 10 with the most points will have there names in one hat, the 10 with the least points in another hat. Then we will draw 1 from each to make teams.

Also, this isn't confirmed yet, but people seemed interested in doing a 1 ball tournament. Everyone would get free entry into this tournament, and the winner gets the $25 bar tab.

Other options would be to do Forward shootout or goalie wars instead of oneball. Or if you have a different idea let me know on here too. Keep in mind the main tournament will take most of the night so we need something that doesn't take long. Any thoughts?

One thing you may want to try is a designated dyp. The higher ranked player must play defence for his lower ranked partner.

For the most part in a dyp the new player will be playing defence for his higher ranked partner. This has advantages for the newbie in that he can observe his veteran partner and how they play/ get coaching tips between points and during time outs etc. Having an occasional designated dyp will put the .experienced players on defence and give the newer player an opportunity to play forward against an equal forward to his skill level.

just my 2cents.

It is my intention to be in attendance for this Tuesdays tournament. I will attempt to get a couple more colleagues from the university to come as well. Christian, I'll call you tomorrow during my break...

re:designated dyp
Thanks Garry, I think we will try that in a few weeks, it is hard for me to pull off these seeded events right now because some of the amateur players have higher ranks, where as some of the better players have really poor ranks right now. Once that sorts itself out we will do this for sure.
