First: I will be there Friday night, looking forward to it.
On a more serious note, before foos on Friday I’ll be in Gastown, raising a drink to celebrate the life of Dale Johnson who recently passed.
Many long-time foosers will remember him as the man that hired Mike Miller (Mitch’s partner before Pete V.) to run a foos and pool hall in Richmond, where they had a few tournaments. I worked for Dale at that time in his Gastown store The Games People, and many other ventures later. For a while Dale was helping to distribute the Pro Top tables in BC (the table that Jeff now has at work).
For those of you who didn’t meet him, Dale was an amazing guy to work for, and to know. He influenced me quite a lot. He was an old-school salesman/businessman whose energy and relentlessness was contagious. He was a prolific story-teller and always had a twinkle in his eye and a quick wry smile.
Anyways…there’s more - lots more - but I just felt I had to share this.

I remember Dale, I had more than a couple conversations with him over the years and he could always tell me something about any pinball machine that I was interested in. I used to love that place.

Yeah The Games People was lots a fun, back when Gastown was thriving, pre-Robson Street.
During the store's heyday there were games to the rafters on the main floor, beautiful pool tables & jukeboxes on the velvet-roped-off second floor showroom, and downstairs had the most unique arcade in town.
Anyways guys...I'm so sorry for high jacking the weekly ‘Friday’ thread!
Please don’t feel obligated to comment on my sentimental stuff.
So…let’s commence pre-Friday night trash-talking and roll-call: Dave you gonna defend last week’s title? (I can Ref)

I'm in victoria at the moment, just woke up and no hang over. I'm not sure. However if Tim shows up, I'll be there for sure. Tim you going down tonight or what.
|
|
I should be there. Depends on if I get enough research done for this paper outline.
|
|
I think you gotta give Tim a bit more than an 1.5 hours to answer.
Regardless of Tim, you should make the trip down - I promise to give you a better battle than last time we played.

If anyone can modify names, please fix Ayman's last name. It's in the system as Sallou but should be Saklou, thx.

The master panel can't rename. Only KidLightning would be able to fix it with direct database access.

Also congrats to Mike for turning Expert. One of the fastest climbs yet...
