Will,

Are you going to buy a charter from Vifa to run a league this fall? If you plan on it you should look into it soon. The League, if there is one should start at the beginning of October.

The Calgary players might also be able to run there league under your charter. This would allow players from Edmonton and Calgary to be on the same Vifa team for Vegas.

Just a suggestion.

Oh how I've longed for the 4-man event. Something about the closeness..........

I am not planning on running a VIFA league.

I really really hope someone else decides to run one on thursday nights though! I don't even care if it takes away from what I'm doing on tuesday nights.

Ideally it would be good to have two nights, one being more beginner friendly. If Jaimie decides to run a VIFA league(or anyone else, just put your name in because you are capable) then I would gladly participate.

I have taken on a lot already and running a VIFA league is too much at this point. I support the idea 100% though.

Someone should talk to Walmac. If there is enough interest I'm sure they would run a league again. I'm pretty sure the reason they stopped is because there were not enough players. If everyone who plays at Gateway played in the league there would be more players than the last time I played league.

That's one option, though it would be way up in the North again which would suck for me. Not to mention the table conditions are WAY better at Gateway.

Does anyone know what it costs to buy the charter? I would consider buying it depending on price assuming there is some kind of monetary return for me (hopefully close to my initial investment). It's easy to see the benefit for the owner of the tables but hard to see how an independent party would recover their investment. Assuming it's just a matter of someone buying a charter and submitting the results.

I'll buy the charter if you want. Honestly it is pretty much free, it costs $200, but you get to keep the first 20 registration fees, and it costs players $10 to register to play in the league.

Good point. Talk to me about this if you are interested in running it, i'll make sure you don't have to commit to anything financially.

I was just about to post that very same suggestion Will. I think if we could get someone (Lyndsey) to commit to running the league then it should be good to go. Once it is up and running it basically runs itself. There is just some data to enter each week. I would be willing to help Lyndsey out with this.

We would need to decide on a format.

If that's all it costs then it's not really an issue at all. Like you said it's basically free. I assumed there was more cost involved. The feeling I always got was that there was more red tape and hassle involved in running the league but I never really inquired any further.

The league basically ran itself when I played in it. I can't remember ever seeing someone from Walmac at a league night. We just need someone to submit the results and I don't mind doing that. I think Garry did it before.

I sent an email to Vifa. If it's just a matter of registering and paying a fee I'll do it. It would be nice to have the option to play Vifa league in vegas. In the past it has proven to be a successful tournament for Canadian players.

I'd be willing to help out as well.I wasn't working for Walmac but I did basically run the thing for them for a few years, as they had no real interest in it.

As far as the Walmac running it- without the plug money, they would be not making anything, so highly doubtful there.

It would be nice to have the op to play VIFA in Vegas- that's where the real money is... and it's a lot more fun- better comraderie, sportsmnship etc.

We would need to decide on a format that was fair and equal to all teams. The "frozen" handicapp system used in the past didn't work and people were discouraged. If this goes, we have an opportunity to start fresh and get this moving in the right direction.

on another note, Garry and Linsey would have to kiss and make up first!
