Topic: West Edmonton Mall - This Saturday

Author: Will Original Message Posted: Aug 10 2009 1:06PM

This saturday, August 15th is the WEM Foosball day.

We are ready to roll and have everything being printed off right now. The T-shirts are ready(and look awesome) and I have been practicing my trick shots.

On Tuesday - before the tournament - I want to have a brief discussion about what to say to people when we are in the mall and they come up to ask questions.

We are using this to promote foosball as a whole, along with our weekly tournaments, and very importantly - Nationals.

The events that we have going on saturday are:
1. Beat the Pro - this will be a sign up sheet open to everyone walking through the mall(no current foosers that attend our tournametns). If you beat the pro you win a t-shirt - don't let this happen they cost me too much!
2. Trick Shot Competition - this seems to work in pool/billiards, I always see that on TV and it is spectator friendly. Everyone(including people from the mall) can sign up for this, for free. Everyone gets 3 chances to pull off a shot - and the "Judges" will rate there best attempt. Based on the scores, the best 3 players will move into the "Final Round". Then we repeat the process and we have a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I'll have prizes for the winners.
3. Challenge Table - whenever there is nothing else goin on we will have a challenge table.
The more people that we have out there the better, it starts early 9 am(when the mall opens) and ends late 9 pm(when the mall closes). Come for as long as you can during that time, i'll be there the whole day - hopefully we can have at least 6 or 8 people the whole time. Also bring out any cute girls you can to have them hang around the table, i've been told that helps get attention. The table will be on free play and this is going to be fun!

I'll be there for sure- unfortunately I'm only able to be there from 9-1, as I work at 1:45.

Wow - this event went so much better than we expected.

Exposure. Every person that walked past had some sort of reaction. We had at times about 30 people in the area either watching the table, watching the big screen, playing, or talking to one of us about foosball.

Promoting. It was great to see how easy it was to approach people without selling them anything. A lot of people are interested in coming out to our weekly tournaments, and we had 15 people register for beginner nationals.

Thanks to all of the foosers that stopped by, i'm not gonna list everyone because it would take to long but a special thanks to Sam, Ben, and Tobin. You guys are getting it done. Great work.

I'll follow up with other pictures from later in the day when there was more people around.

Cool fact the second picture. The guy I am talking to in the picture is from out of town, he was visiting Edmonton because he is a marketer for an Energy Drink company. Not sure if there is any interest yet but I think something could come from it. Garry is playin foos with his son. Its funny how much good a little bit of exposure can do.

Great job Will.
I'm going to vote for Will for Canadian fooser of the year. You are doing a great job over there in The Chuk.
