OK I think I may have ordered handles for the Soho tables
I have had a few calls from soho about problems with table operation, usually coin mech related. When I have a look at the tables and try them out they are working. If you have experienced issues with the coin mechs/ball drop recently could you explain the problem. If you were able to get it working again, what did you do?
I did see the tape on the ball drop mech and without the tape what was happening? I see a rivet was missing and I'll replace that.
thanks, Peter

It's only on the far table. Maybe 50 percent of the time only a couple of balls come out, this is rectified by lifting and dropping the the table about 4 inches (creating an earthquake effect...) that shakes the table and releases the rest of the balls.

wow! im stoked!, i shud be happy but a little voice inside my head is wanting the chipped goal post fixed as well. I wonder how long that one will take. a lot of people are scoring goals that would not normally have gone in on a regular table. am i the only one that wants to play foosball on a table that has proper sized goal posts on both ends? there must be a way to fix it without replacing the whole top.

Why are you worried about other peoples games? Just put the ball on net instead of aiming for the wall.
Hey Pepper ... you going to Edmonton? And Pete what's this "i think" i ordered lol ... either you did or you didn't haha. Oh, and the rivet should do the trick for the coin mechanism.

Hi Pete,
I put the tape on cause the ball container (or what it's called) came apart on Friday. Probably the rivet that held it together broke. It also seems that there is a nut missing (though we couldn't find one in the table) With the remaining bolt as a guide the tape worked well to hold the piece together.

the main thing is the table conditon for me. i dont care about other peoples games, but if it affects the outcome . then im concerned. also it people that dont care about the table condition , and people that play 2 matches without knowing that they were playing with a broken pin, these are the people that are slowing down the repairs of the tables. if u cant see the importance of playing on a table is up to date then u are probably one of the people that plays great at soho and then goes to a major tournament in the states and then play terrible and doesnt have a clue why.
i dont condone mediocrity , but if u dont mind playing on crappy tables to each their own, i want my game to be tight tho
Rob, the last 2 Worlds I went had table/ball issues, the last foosapalooza had table problems. I'm not saying you are wrong with what you are saying here, its just there's a huge chance when you go to a major there is something about the table that is no good.
i can adapt to anything and ive even played foos in the dark with glow in the dark men and balls but i shouldnt have to adapt to different handles and extra wide nets, im just sayin, my 2 cents
When you go the states you can't compete with anyone.
So why don't you just shut the f--k up.
lol, am i asking u to not play on sohos tables? im just not going to until i feel the tables are in satissfactory conditon according to my standards.btw, when i do return to play. i will do all my talking on the table.
Aaaah Robbie.
Why not just admit that, like me, you are a disillusioned bitter old man and just can't get it up anymore. By "it", I of course mean the "desire to play foos".
It's when the talking stops we all get nervous
absence makes the heart grow fonder. if there were more players and more bigger payouts , i would consider playing on crappy tables, but until then...
You can't win a tourney with 4 players let alone one with 10 plus. No difference anyway you slice it. The cream always rises to the top!
Personally, I think with the particular game you have Rob, you have a better chance than most of us in Vancouver to win Ams or Semi Pro. But after years of going, everyone will figure you out.
u make me laf jeff, i went master when there were actually lots of good players around, like mitch , u went master when there were 4 people playing so of all people i didnt think that youd be so vocal.u finally started winning something in the last 2years or so. i was winning when u were doing pullshots as yer only weapon
anyhow. im just trying to get us good tables to play on, i dont give a rats ass about yer game. its not all about u.
Tim,
What do you do if you can't get it up but you still have lots of desire to play foosball still?
Take some Viagranado?
I am back in Florida from Shanghai for a few weeks. Packing my new Tornado to go with me plus converting some of the new Fireball's over there to Tornado men. The new QPQ rods and new handles make for a nice table. With the Tornado men they should be very nice at a good price too.
See you ladies in February for the Winter Olympics. I will be bringing/donating Chinese made medals for top 3 finishers in the "Vancouver Foosball Open" when I come. If there is enough interest that is. FSO, Goalie War, Open Singles and Doubles, Pro/Am Dubs.
Hoping in typical Vancouver fashion that no one cares enough to turn up so I can win all the events!
Fly, I am hoping that the Bruce Lee shirt will make another appearance for another "ugly shirt contest". I will be attempting to beat it with a custom made job from China. Tim and Earl, you have until then to work on your own ugly shirts.
Regards,
Freddy

I am always vocal. I am tired of people saying shit that isn't true. I went Master about 4 years ago in doubles, and there were still lots of players playing.
The truth of the matter is you can't win anymore. If myself, Tuan, Tim, or Robert show up, which one of us usually does, you won't win the tournament. So you don't show, and you refuse to try and get better and change with the evolution of the game. So you try and come up with excuses about handles and a chip in the table.
You have already started with the glory days tales, about when you came Master with a strong, large player base, so the downhill slide has begun. Note: I agree with you about the player base when you went Master, I was there when you came Master and Mitch gave you a handshake, and overall it was much different back then. But even still, it was a time when players could become Masters playing goalie. I played goal for years, so did Craig. That's just how it was. Nobody played forward when they first started out, and there was a minimal singles scene to progress players at a fast rate. Point being, different time, different game, different scene, different player base.
I like ya Robbie, I want you to come out and play. But you have played on those f----cking handles for 10 years, there is no adjusting. And the chip can eat my ass.
And no, its not all about me, this thread is all about you, and your request for handles and the gandhi like protest you put up to get them.
I would love a brand new table with new handles at the tournament, it would be great. But unfortunately, I am a realist, and everyone in this world is out for themselves, so I never expect anything from anyone.
......another slow day at the office.
i absolutely will come out and play as soon as the handles arrive and i will continue to work on my game at tuans until then. btw im happy with my new 3bar. now i have to work on my 5 bar.
Robbie. I think Pete was joking. I think the new handles are great too, I just don't expect to see them soon.
I'll see you tomo. I'll buy you a beer.
lol, ill buy u a beer but my brother is coming from korea. so i wont be at foos till first week of november.
Peter,
Did you take out the new balls? I noticed a while ago they were replaced with the older ones. Also the bearings are getting gummy again. Could you clean them when you replace the handles? Thanks.
No if there are old balls in there they got old or they were replaced by someone that wanted to get rid of their own old balls. I hope their balls shrivel!!
Handles should be here in a bit... no really. I will have a look at the table tomorrow
OK I have ordered the Handles.
I wanted to say thanks to those that took the time to tape/twist-tie the table to operate. I replaced the missing (aluminum) rivets with steel rivets that will last. I don't know what they were thinking when they changed to aluminum, no wonder they failed.
The far table had problems with the ball drop mech. Also a problem that I have never seen before, table should always give 9 balls now. Whenever I tested the table it always worked, therefore was difficult to figure out because the problem was irratic. The coin mech still sticks a little when sliding back after dropping the balls. This is because the mech position has never matched up properly with the drop mechanism, I hoping that I can swap a part to make it smoother. Thanks for your patience, it has been annoying for me so I know it must have been worse for those playing.
sweet!,that didnt take long as long as i thought it would.
Ha ha ... what's the use of having new handles if you're using old balls lol, just sayin' ...
Peter K fixed the ball return with some twist ties. I give myself full credit for asking for the keys, opening the table, setting my drink down (inside the table mind you!!!!!), and then giving him the twist ties so he could figure out the problem and fix the table.
quite impressive.
you guys coming out tonight?
I'm gonna miss these wooden handles, i love em, it just felt right tonight.
