Topic: Which forum to use?

Author: subculture Original Message Posted: Sep 29 2009 3:37PM

So what's with all the forums? I thought I the ning forum was now the official one... then I realized some threads had more action on this tablesoccer.ca one... then Will told me to check the Edmonton forum for more tournament threads... then there's the executive forums on each one!

To make it worse, each one has it's own log-in id's and passwords! I suck at keeping track of those...

I wish everyone used the tsac site - it is good for all cities in Canada.
The problem is there are sites in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon, ottawa, and Quebec.

As a side note I check all of these sites :)

the tsac site is used by the exec board but not many other people.

I check them all too... I'm a foos board junkie. Usually whenever I get bored at work I check them all. Calgary, Van, Edmonton, Regina, Ottawa, TSAC, foosball board, foosball.com board, even britfoos every now and then.

I only check this one. Never bother with the others - don't have the time.

You should go on the Van site, nobody from anywhere posts on edm or calgary's sites, they all check out Van's....

www.vancouverfoosball.net

He's right, they do get more action on their board than any of the other western boards.

"good luck this weekend to you and simon."

Simon is playing with Ivor & I'm playing with Christian, but thanks.

There are so many good Canadian teams coming, and throw in Spree & Moore & I/we will need the luck.

Can we not just decide on one central forum, with sub-sections for all provinces, and just use that?

Author: .Garry Reply #11 Posted: Sep 30 2009 12:52PM

http://www.calgaryfoos.com/

Use this- it has the city links plus the primarily American site link as well.

Too many clicks Garry. Now, admittedly, I have not visited the Calgary site but speaking with the level of expertise one can only attain through zero visits, I can state with the utmost confidence that using the Calgary site would require too many clicks to reach threads of interest. That's why I stick with the Vancouver site. It has just the right number of clicks.

That, and the fact that as an old dog, I seek to perfect the tricks I currently know rather than seek out new tricks to amuse my owners.

Okay Timbo ... 2 biscuit treats for a Sunny Juwani

The problem with only using the Vancouver site(unless you are from vancouver) is that you don't get to read all the threads that don't include vancouver. Most of the Edmonton point updates don't include vancouvers site, and sometimes calgary tournament results are only on the calgary site.

I use the Calgary site because it has links to all the other forums.

Pretty much it would make total sense to use the www.tablesoccerca.ning.com site. It has message boards for each city, and universal ones, and TSAC exec ones.

It would be by far the best for promoting foosball if we could use that site only/primarily. It would centralize all the information so that people don't have to hear about everything by word of mouth. Also it would give us a link to show to potential sponsors. It keeps you logged in all the time too(which this site doesn't do for everyone, but for some people it does?)

Also it lets you create event pages and specific groups for other things. It is pretty much the perfect site - except that nobody uses it.

We have updated the Calgaryfoos site to add the Regina, Quebec and Ottawa to the Message board menu.

That's great Brian.

The funny things is and most people don't realize it, is that these forums (ALL OF THEM, the vancouver, calgary, edmonton, saskatoon, and TSAC) are all actually hosted in Saskatoon.

They're really just the same message board, with each site (vancouverfoos.com for example), pointing to the the saskfoos board one (with a bit of makeup applied).

Barry Willick was nice enough to set all of this up, and is still nice enough to host it.

Barring that i think we should all use the forums on ning - but old habits are hard to break. maybe i should convince barry to shut down the boards and force people to move. muhhuuhuaahhahaha. B-)

I got a feeling that the Ning site just won't catch on....
