All teams that did not qualify for that bracket are entered into a 16 team double elimination bracket. This is the seeding for that bracket, there is no crossover between brackets. No rookie teams qualified for the top bracket, so all the rookie prizes are up for grabs in this event. Two semi-pro teams qualified for the top chart. The highest placing semi-pro team in this chart will finish 3rd among semipro teams.

1. Tim Wilson and Greg Ustina
2. Lance Campbell and Mike Johnston
3. Jaimie Simeon and Desmond Tse
4. James Yeoung and Joshua Wong
5. Samuel Wilkins and Tobin Mysczczyszyn
6. Anthony Chin and Willie Chan
7. Nathan Van Melle and Linda Ly
8. Chris Kerr and Blair Lehman
9. Rick Jamerson and Carey Luft
10. Jordan Freznel and Dylan Phoung
11. Darcy Scaife and Jason Elford
12. Ban Chanta and Ramu Perumal

One thing I noticed about the NetFoos charts - they seem to have a number of errors.

For example, if team A and B play on the winners side and team A wins and then, in their very next match, they lose to team C, then team A and B should NOT meet again before the loser takes 4th match.

The example of this is the doubles match between Popowich and Goodman. They played on the winner's side and Goodman lost. Then Popowich lost right after. But the two teams ended up meeting very shortly thereafter. If the charts were crossed over properly (and there is a very simple formula for it), this does not happen.

Anyone else notice these sorts of issues?

Author: Viper Reply #10 Posted: Oct 5 2009 2:57AM

it was done right on the singles chart on the doubles one it was ok till that bracket both of those teams went straight back when one should have crossed over

So does that mean Eric Dunn and Kane are Canada's National Doubles Champs? And Mario Ionuzzi (bad spelling - sry Mario) is the Canadian Singles champ?

Congrats if so. Brackets didn't look easy.

Author: foosghost Reply #13 Posted: Oct 5 2009 12:08PM

that's right.

Author: Aged Whine & Cheese Reply #14 Posted: Oct 5 2009 1:02PM

Some things that I remember standing out over the weekend.

First of all I need to thank ben. It is amazing how much you did to make this event happen. I know you don't need to hear this from me but the tournament would not have happened if you were not there. Everything from using your computers to set up to running the charts. I was only the tournament director in name, you ran that event. Thank you.
Also a huge thanks to sam Tobin Rick Ritchie chris Katie Lexie and my amazing wife Jazminn for all the hours you put in.

Ok.
Brian loeppky had one of the highlights of the weekend. Taking 2 games off Tony to open the match was probably the most exciting time. Great job beating Eric dunn and all the other challengers along the way!

Congrats Mario I. Great tournament, you are a great player.

A highlight for me and ben was beating tuan and Nelson 2 strait in open doubles, they still came back to win the group but great job ben for carrying us in that one.

Another highlight was winning the Pro am playing with Ryan. It was fun but the guy could have won it with nobody touching the goalie rods.

Congrats to Ryan on beating Tony also. That was Ryan first ever win against Tony.

Thanks to everyone for coming! Hope to see you Next time!

Wow, excellent job Will and Co. It sounds like you guys hosted a world class tournament!! I wish I could have been there.

Congratulations to Tony and Ryan for winning Open Doubles, and Congrats to Eric and Kane for winning Canadian Doubles Champs, and congrats to Mario I for being the Singles Champ of Canada.

Out of curiosity, who won the Retro Doubles on the TS Brown top?

Author: foosghost Reply #19 Posted: Oct 5 2009 4:48PM

I didn't sponsor Kane - jeeesh, where do people come up with this stuff?

I let him crash in my room - which he only slept for a total of 5 hours the entire weekend. The rest he paid for - if you really must know.

Wow - some one out there must be spreading some pretty wild rumours - gossip says I sponsored Kane, and I hate Edmonton, anyone else hear anything?!!? lol
just to be clearer than one should have to be - i do not hate edmonton - i hold edmonton in the same regard as every city in Canada other than Victoria - Victoria ROCKS!! B-)

Author: .Garry Reply #20 Posted: Oct 5 2009 8:43PM

" and I hate Edmonton, anyone else hear anything?!!? "

lol- this was my highlight of the weekend-anyone that was there knows what I'm talking about...lol) I will say that this was the most I've talked to Eric any tourney we've participated in together-normally he/I are so focused on the task at hand-but it was nice to actually spend some time chatting.

Canadian standouts-Brian Loepky in both singles and doubles-great job! Eric in both as well, and Nhu Tran taking alot of Alberta pros down for the count.

Obviously Tony the robot and Ryan the rocket were great to see/play

Lastly but most importantly to the entire setup/tourney crew, of which there were many-Will/Ben/Chad/Tobin/Katie/Lexie/Jazminn THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK AND THE TIME YOU PUT IN without everyone this event would not have been the great success it was!!!

"Out of curiosity, who won the Retro Doubles on the TS Brown top? "

We never ended up having it- the table after being set up was not in a playable condition-although it was fun to play on- we used a Tornado ball and it was better- especially unleashing some 3 bar pin banks on Ivanhoe Dementiava...lol

Huge props to Will & gang for the dynamite tournament.

Great venue, great tables, good format, solid organization.

Look forward to the next one Will - thanks again to you and all the people that made this happen.

OK, I know some of you wanted to see this match so here it is.

Brian Loeppky vs Tony Spredeman

http://www.calgaryfoos.com/index.php/downloads/Game-Videos/Brian-Loeppky-vs-Tony-Spredeman/

What a fun match to watch. It would be cool if someone would watch it and find out Brian's blocking percentage from 3-bar. Also how many did Tony have to score from 5-bar to win? hmmm.

If people want a higher quality version just let me know. I have the original (Looks great) in 1920x1080 (3GB) and also a DVD format (1.8GB). This one is made for downloading quicker (130MB). Use VLC or another program that supports .mp4 format.

Sorry the only Video I took while in Edmonton was Brian vs Tony. I know there was a few other cameras setup so maybe someone else might have the match between Eric and Matt.

Was everyone happy with where people were ranked? Now would probably be a great time to make any adjustments that are necessary to where people are ranked based on the results of the tournament.

I know Will is probably still recovering from all the work he put in, but there's no time like the present so does anyone else feel like stepping in to oversee this?
