Well... after quite a bit of trying VIFA is finally offering to let me run a league.
I have to mail them a money order (don't ask) so it will be a couple of weeks before I can get anything going but I wanted to make sure there is still interest in the league and get some suggestions on format.
We can do 2,3,4 player teams or DYP. Theoretically we could just make our weekly DYPs VIFA but that would lock us into a format (i.e. no pro-am).
Let me know your thoughts.

I'm ok with any format.
The 4 man is a fun format-but we would need 20-25 people for that( 4/5 per team and 4-6 teams) Not sure if we have enough for that.
Keeping it seperate from Will and Chad's weekly events would be best.
Doing it(whatever format) Thursday's would be my vote/

I talked to a couple of people last night and it looks like people are good with 4 man teams running on Thursday nights.
We have some time to decide so let me know if anyone has other ideas.

I should also mention it's a good time to start telling people about the league and thinking about teams.
The league is handicapped so everyone can participate and there is a tournament at the end with a fairly large payout.
There is also a yearly tournament in Vegas. Canadian players have had a history of placing well in this tournament.

I've had very limited interest in the VIFA league this year so I'm going to run VIFA DYPs on Thursdays starting Dec. 17 for those who want to get their weeks in to play the Vegas tournament
VIFA registration is $10 and the DYPs will be $5 entry with 100 percent payback.
Here's the flyer for the Vegas tournament: http://www.vifa.com/pdf/TFL%20Tr.%20Kit%202010.pdf
Hall of fame classic is the same weekend.

Sweet, that will be fun. I was REALLY looking forward to the team aspect of it, but I guess it sounds like thats not possible yet at least.
Thanks for doing this Lindsey, I'll be there next Thursday!

Yeah... sorry guys. I wish I could have made the team thing work but it's just not going to happen this year. VIFA (Now TFL) didn't get back to me until the season would have been 1-2 months old and it took me a while to send them the money for the charter and stuff. Not to mention I've only had a handful of people express interest in playing.
At least we'll be able to qualify people to play in Vegas... and I'll have the charter now so we can start the league on time next year.
I'm going to inquire about running singles, BYPs and Pro-Am as well.

Are we going to set handicaps tonight? Are you just doing it Lindsey or are you going to get lots of opinions? I'm more than happy with you just doing it but I'm curious.
|
|
That's a good question, Will. I was going to base the handicapping on the netfoos points but I'm definitely open to suggestions.
|
|
I guess I can throw out some options, and see what you think. A. Use netfoos points b. Have a few players that know everyones skill level vote on everyones handicap c. You pick everyones handicap
I'm not sure what the scale is for vifa... 2-7 maybe? If that's the case then netfoos points might not be best because some "2" players are better than other "2" players quite substantially. I guess that would be fine with me though but you might think that some newbie walking in off the street would have an issue with Chad or Blair being the same points as them.

|
Again I'm not trying to impose. I'm excited about vifa on Thursday!
|
|
Feel free to impose all you want, Will. I want this to be our (every fooser's) league.
I think a combination of A and B is our best option.
|
|
Sounds like a good idea. Use netfoos as a base but maybe change a few players.. Are you coming tonight?
|
|
I should be there tonight.
|
|
Ritchi will be there too. I just talked to him.
