I should be down around 7:30'ish ... remember, Cambie Bridge will be closed Wednesday from noon till midnight for Opening day ceremony practice. I still expect there to be plenty of parking as there was last Wednesday and Friday.

Not coming down tonight, will try to make it out next whenever Fred is around. But I wanted to agree w/ Johnny re parking etc.

Also, we did visit downtown over the weekend and ran into a few athletes. Best place to find them is around The Bay Olympic Superstore, because they want to get Canadian-themed Winter Olympic souveniers(sp?) for themselves. Here's a couple pictures of my boy Robbie with competitors we met there:

The last couple days I walked by the bay (around 6 when I get off the skytrain) there has been a line up of around 100 people to get inside (one comes out, one goes in).

Everybody wants their souvenirs!!

Hey that's cool Earl, now all we need to do is get them down to Soho's. I did some finagling and can stay later tonight if peeps are still playing.

I personally met about half the Slovakia Women's Ice Hockey team in the Bay cashier line-up - just as good as meeting the Swedish alpine team as far as I'm concerned.

I traded a Vacouver pin with one of them for a Slovakia pin for my son. Because he wasn't there at the time I didn't ask for a picture of all of them - it woulda been strange.

The picture I did get of the goalie was later on Robson - she was tall: 5' 11".

I got one of those jerseys too - can you guys see my other Flikr pics?

Hey Johnny: can you tell me how you embed pictures (or direct me to a tutorial if it's complicated)

I actually tried what I thought was the right method, but it didn't show up when I clicked the 'preview' button. Then I thought maybe Flikr doesn't allow it, so settled on just using links.

I just saw the torch run relay.

I tried to grab the torch, but I was taken down in a hurry.

Now that would be a souvenir.

Dang Jeffy ... i told ya to toss a few foosballs in the runners path. You woulda had the torch and we could be holding the first Soho Fooslympics Friday

I've often wondered what would happen if some torch relayer dropped the thing into some water (either intentionally or by accident).

That would be newsworthy.

Nice sweater Johnny. My knockoff jersey cost me $22 here in Shanghai.

Q: Why did the Slovakian lady goalie wear the goalie pad between her legs?
A: She wanted something that would last for 3 periods!

Apparently, if the torch goes off they have a backup lit somewhere. I suspect it is off camera with a BIC lighter nearby...
