Saw this on foosballboard.net earlier, thought it might be a cool idea to try some time:

This may sound complicated but it is not. We call it Hold-em DYP.

Use the following point system. Beginner – 3, Rookie – 4, Semi-pro – 5, Pro – 6, Pro-master - 7. Assign a total team value so team A with a pro and a semi-pro gets a total team score of 11. Team B with two rookies gets a total team score of 8. If these teams play each other, Team A must give three chips to team B. So the number of chips is the difference between the two teams total points (capped at 4).

These chips can be used at any point during the match as points as long as Team B has control of the ball (on a serve or in the middle of the play as long team B is controlling the ball). They can be used one at a time or in multiple chips at once, however, team B decides is in their best interest. Team B can use chips to win a game but cannot use it to win the match. They have to score the final goal.

So let us say team A wins the first game and scores to go ahead 4-3 in the second game, team B can use two chips to win that game and still have a chip to use in the third game. Or it is 4-4, team A serves the ball, makes the pass, and team B manages to stop the shot and control the ball. At that time they can use a chip to win the second game and still have 2 chips to use in the third game.

We use this at our local DYP and it is by far the most popular format for everyone except for the couple of guys who would otherwise win all the time but it makes more challenging for them as well to have to hustle to stay in the tournament.

Also.. What's the format tonight?

Anybody want to try that format out tonight?

Vote between that and pro/am. If we do that format it won't count for points.

Garry and Chad voted pro/am

From all of the text votes recieved it seems like most people want a pro am. We will do pro am tonight and let's talk about that format a bit and see if we should try that one out soon.

See the format above Simon. There is no poker aspect to it at all, just they use chips as a token to show they are using a goal I guess. We can just do that verbally or keep track on paper if necassary.
