Topic: Getting into foosball
|
|
Hey there. I'm a local foosball player (Mission) but I've never really looked into anything local in the Fraser Valley. I came across this sight, and it looks like most of the leisurely/serious foosball players hang out around here. Is there any way I can come and join in some games, or is this strict league play?
Just wondering,

Nolan,
We don't do league play, so you don't have to commit to any schedule - you just have to trek into Yaletown. You can show up as often or as little as you like. There's no other serious place to play anywhere.
There's a Singles tournament every Friday & a Doubles Draw Your Partner (DYP) on Sundays. Also, some decent players usually show up on Wed & Sat to play for fun without the organized tourneys.
SoHo on Hamilton is the place. All our tournaments are handicapped with a player ranking system, in order to make it a bit more fair for the new players.
The Vancouver website is a bit old w/ some dead links, but it can explain the handicap system used better than me.

Nolan,
For fun foos, you might also try contacting Lloyd as well as Mike and Bernie (Bernadette). It has been years now but last I knew they were living in the Mission area.
Send me an email and I will give you Lloyd's email address. If they are still around he will likely have Mike and Bernie's as well.

Nolan, Fred is suggesting Lloyd, Mike and Bernadette because they live out your way.

All right thanks a lot for the information and clarification!
I'll get in touch with you Fred, and I'll plan to drop in at a Friday night event!
