Last night we did Open Doubles (BYP) and Rookie Doubles.

We started Rookie Doubs first because we had 4 teams to play in it right then and I thought it would be nice to let the rookies play those games first instead of jumping into games against pro's in the first tournament games they ever played.

Cam and Ryan played really well in the opening match against Paul and Scott - but Paul and Scott won that in the end I believe 2-0. Karli and Uzair won there first match also but then lost the kingseat match to Paul and Scott. Cam and Ryan made it through the losers bracket and then double dipped Paul and Scott to win the first tournament they ever played in together.

Cam and Ryan then had a huge upset in the open doubles too - knocking Des and Carey into the B-side.

Congrats to Cam and Ryan for an awesome showing!

In Open doubles Mike and Roger had a really good first game against Jamie and Chad. They played eachother twice in the evening with Roger and Mike winning both times. I know in the first game Roger was scoring every shot practically, at least on the ones he was releasing quick. That is a testament to how powerful Rog's shot is that he can put the ball away like that. In the second match Mike got the game winner and the match winner from the two bar. One of them was a near side back which Mike has been working on for a while, really solid shot.

Chris and Darcy made there way through half the chart and then played Christian and I for King Seat. Chris started up front and passed and shot really well, they got up 4-2 on us in the first game. Our two first goals were both slop and I know Darcy also had scored from his two bar with "the squeeze". I'm not sure how we got back into that game, but Christian won it with a deadly pull from the two bar that split Darcy's d-men. We ended up in kingseat after that match.

Roger and Mike made it into the final to play against us and in the first game they made an opportunistic switch and Mike put a few goals away, but we overcame that surge of momentum and won that match. I shot really well in that game and my defensive 5 was solid too. Christian was like a rock throughout the whole tournament and didn't let in even one slop goal (although he did score on our own net once). It is a big change for me playing with Christian as compared to Ben, Ben passes and clears better and maybe thinks his options through more, but Christians shot is so devastating sometimes I only need to score one or two because he puts so many in the net.

Results:
1st Will and Christian
2nd Roger and Mike
3rd Darcy and Chris

Thanks Roger, it means a lot to hear that from you! I hope I do well down there and hopefully all of Edmonton can represent. Jamie might be coming too.

Go mike indeed. Sorry for not congratulating you right away on moving back into the top 15. With results like you have had lately (that singles week where you were tearing it up, the BYP that Carey and Mike took 2nd, and last night) it feels like you have been top 10 material for a while.

See some of you down at Time out in a few minutes.
