Topic: Super Singles this TUESDAY!

Author: Will Original Message Posted: Nov 8 2010 2:28AM

This tuesday we are doing super singles! We'll see how this event goes and maybe add it in more often if it goes good. Lately whenever we have tried singles it has run too long, partially because of not enough tables but also it is just tough because in doubles there are half as many teams. In singles we have a 32 team chart most of the time.

The singles tournament this week will be two tiered, so that the top 8 players that show up, based entirely on points, will play in a seperate tournament.

The other 10-14 players will play in a seperate tournament, in other words once you win your way into the top tier you play in that one, if you lose then you move down but have a better chance of winning.

It is called super singles because of the way the payouts work.

Lets assume we have 20 players, which is 100 bucks, plus 25 gateway bucks...

First place in the top tier plays against first place in the lower tier. ONE GAME, RACE TO 7. Lower tier team gets to start at 2 and has serve.

2nd plays 2nd, 3rd plays 3rd, 4th plays 4th. Same point spots the whole way.

1st $50
2nd $30
3rd $10+15gw
4th 10 Gw
(based on 20 players)

I think this will go faster than a typical tournament because it will be two smaller charts, but we'll see how much faster it actually goes. If we don't have time for the play-off games then we'll just divide all those numbers in half and split to low/high.

Will
Simon
Christian
Roger
Garry
Tom
Ben
Darcy

That is a realistic top 8 that could show up, would make for an intense second tournament!
