Hey guys, just thinking about vegas and what we'll need to do to get into vifa. What do we need vifa for? How long do we need to be playing in vifa events to qualify?

When do we start?

Darcy - there is no word yet on this at all. I don't know that VIFA exists at this time, because Mary took over with IFP for the Vegas event. She posted on the board asking league directors to contact her if they are interested in running a league, and I have done that. I think if there is a league event (probably will be) at vegas this year, she will do the event from her leagues instead of from VIFA leagues. Essentially I feel that signing up for VIFA right now would be a giant waste of time and money.

From the NWfoosball site

I just got a reply e-mail from Brian Elliot, (the horse's mouth), whom I asked about league status for this year. Well I've got news....it's not good news...but it's news. I've sent him a reply e-mail to get more details, and they haven't gotten all this worked out yet, it's still in the planning stages...but here's the way the wind is blowing:

1> Mary Moore is going to be running Valley's tournaments. (This is confirmed)

2> It's looking like the HOF tournament and VIFA are going to be separated. HOF will still be in March, but they're peeling off the VIFA part and going to have a separate date for that... So it's looking like no League stuff in March.

3> What they're planning on doing is having a separate League Tournament June 2-4th at Balley's in Vegas. This will be in conjunction with their May26th-June 4th Pool, Airhockey, and Shuffleboard world championships, and they're thinking of having a combined Pool, Airhockey, Shuffleboard & Foosball event.

That blows massively. I'll ask Mary if she is planning on having a handicapped team event there, because I think that would be awesome. If it is somehow incorporated into a league structure here then I would take part in that.

I don't see how moving the Vifa event to June will help promote the league. Do they really expect League players to go to Vegas in June after a lot of them were at the HOFC in March. Sounds like a great idea, lets figure out a way to make it even more expensive. I think if they polled the league players it would be run at the HOFC.
