This week we did a High/Low tournament, where the highest ranked player played with the lowest ranked player - 2nd highest with second lowest, etc.
I think the format was interesting, and getting more opinions on it would be good, i'm not sure that it is worth doing that format much. I just think a pro/am serves the same purpose.
Either way the tournament was pretty even, I think that a bunch of teams had a pretty good chance at winning. In the first round some close games included Darcy and Mike against Sam and Chris.
Christian and Garret ran into Chad and Christof in the second round, it was a pretty good game from the limited time I watched it. Chad's 5 bar definitely hung in there, almost going even for posessions with Christian. Christof cleared really well and chad scored really well, Chad and Christof pulled out the win.
Darcy and Mike made it all the way to the kingseat game where they ran into Will and Ray. Darcy and Mike played well in each game, it was hard fought but in the end came out on the losing side. Ray was playing great the whole night, taking his time with the ball, managing the game from the back, he even scored a few goals and threw some nice passes up for me - I was pretty impressed for the first tournament he has ever played in.
Christian made it all the way back through the losers bracket, made harder by the fact that Ben and Carlos just wouldn't lose. With Ben playing back for large portions of the games, Christian was having a harder time scoring, and Carlos was putting some goals away. Garret and Christian took it in the third.
In the final Christan and Garret fell behind to us 4-3 in the first game, then tied it. I had 3 consecutive shots to win which Garret stepped to the plate and blocked, which was a pretty big turning point really. They won that game and the next game. It came down to the second set, third match, 4-4...
The rest is history.
In the second DYP Karli was scoring really well and Christof played well too, they also double dipped for the win.
Results: 1st Christian and Garret 2nd Will and Ray 3rd Darcy and Mike
2nd DYP Karli and Christof

Congrats to Christian on taking back what was always rightfully his, the #1 spot in Edmonton.

Nice work Christian!
And don't sell yourself short Will, the last 6 months you've been playing some pretty amazing foosball. I'm glad to have the field of competition that we do here, it only serves to make everyone better. Can't wait for Vegas to see how we stack up!
