This week we did a DYP, and had to deviate from the original plan for the second strait week. With only 14 players it would have been bad to do two seperate events, so we just decided on the DYP format. A lot of people went to the oilers game so I think that is why the turnout was so low. The DYP was pretty good though! A few first round matchups that were really exciting included Mike and Simon playing against the team with the highest total points, Ben and Garry. Mike was scoring like a madman from the back and blocking great too. Simon scored well also, as they won that one and then played Chris and Lindsey. Side note: it was great to see lindsey out again. The mass amount of trick shots he employed against us (they worked too) was pure joy to watch. Chris and Lindsey put up quite a bit more of a fight, Chris was shooting really well as usual, and his 5 is so tricky that you never know which pass is coming. I really like the series that you developed chris, the options blend in really nice. A lot of this game came down to Mike blocking really well and clearing nearly 100%, also when mike gets a hold of the ball he just RIPS it and you can't do much to block it. if you weren't already in front of it the ball is in the net before you know the shot is coming. The game went back and forth and came down to the wire, I think it ended because Chris had the ball on his 3 bar and the shot went off the post back into the his own net. Des and Christof were easily the biggest surprise of the event. Des has recently come off a small break from foos and although Christof has been playing solid for a while, they were still not considered favorites in this event. They had a tough draw, and had to play against me and Daniel. In the first game Des came out flying, scoring a couple long pulls and some cut back longs. Also some rollers and a little bit of everything. Christof was blocking everyone really well, and pretty much shut me down entirely with a super shake D that covered the entire net. I still don't know where the holes were. Anyway in the second game Daniel blocked really well and scored two goals, so we won that one, then in the third game it went pretty much the same, only I couldn't manage my 3 goals and Des and Christof pulled off the upset. They went on to beat Sam and Darcy also - with quite a bit more slop in that match than in the one where they beat us, but with Christof shutting down everyone's 3 bar it was pretty tough to beat them. For Kingseat Mike and Simon really controlled the game well, I saw a little bit of it and Des and Christof managed to pull off a game, but from what people said Mike and Simon were not really in jeapordy of losing in the 3rd game. After getting shut down by Christof in the first match I started to resort to rinkydink foosball and I didn't really shoot many good shots for the rest of the tournament, I tried everything from John Wayne's to Slingshots to off the back wall one timers. Somehow most of it worked ok. I really didn't play well, but Daniel blocked everyone really well and put in about 2 goals a game and he got us all the way back to the final. When we played Des and Christof this time I still couldn't score but Daniel carried my dead weight all the way through. In the final it was Mike and Simon against Will and Daniel. The first game went to Mike and Simon but then our "one timer" style started paying off and I think we got under Simon's skin a little bit with the flukey goals we were getting. Simon has called a lot of my goals flukes before, but never was he as right as he was this week. We came back again riding Daniel who blocked Simon well and was really clever with his clears, the ball ended up going in enough times for us to win the first match. The second match opened with a bang though. Mike got the ball quickly, set up, and pounded the ball through the back of our net... then he did the same thing again and the tides had turned. Simon and Mike gelled well too so I think that the way they played together really took off, and we couldn't fight back into it. Congrats to Mike and Simon for the big victory! That, ladies and gents, is what I call a decent write up. Tobin maybe you can fill me in on the 2nd Chart, I know you and Chris won it but I didn't see the chart in my bag so the results aren't in. |

Just wanted to add that the shot went off the post (Mike may have got a piece of it) and jumped over the field ,over the goalie and in. lol Now thats a kick to the groin!  |

lol ya me to but live and learn. Probably should have called a time out just to think about it. It was a really fun match either way. |
