Thanks for all the registrations! This one is looking to be a HUGE turnout, I haven't seen this many Pre-registration emails ever before.

Author: perennial underdog Reply #2 Posted: Feb 6 2011 2:25PM

I will be attending, Will.

Author: Darcy Reply #3 Posted: Feb 6 2011 2:27PM

But he will not be following instructions.

Author: S. Edwards Reply #4 Posted: Feb 6 2011 8:02PM

I will also be attending and not following the instructions

Author: perennial underdog Reply #5 Posted: Feb 6 2011 8:29PM

I think that those who are attending and do not follow instructions tend to win tournaments.

Author: Will Reply #6 Posted: Feb 6 2011 10:32PM

But they won't be wearing free tee-shirts from the tournament while they win

Author: Aged Whine & Cheese Reply #7 Posted: Feb 7 2011 12:55PM

I will neither follow the instructions nor, likely, attend. Please send my winnings to my home address.

Unfortunately the prize money won't be able to be sent out due to the lack of information supplied on your tournament registration

Author: Will Reply #9 Posted: Feb 7 2011 3:59PM

Also - a lot more registrations came in today. Thanks so much everyone, this has been way easier than collecting registrations for Nationals was.

Author: perennial underdog Reply #10 Posted: Feb 8 2011 4:58PM

It's an evil thing to take the shirt off my back!!!

Author: Will Reply #11 Posted: Feb 9 2011 5:47PM

Just to clear this up, I would like to stress the importance of pre-registering. We are running the tournament using a new version of FAST software so we have to register every player that is coming to the event, it will save us a lot of time when we are starting the tournament if we can sign everyone up right now.

E-mail edmontonfoosball@gmail.com with your shirt size and events that you are planning on playing in!

Thanks to those who have sent them, sorry that I'm not taking the time to respond to each one as they come in!

Will:I was just wondering how many registrations you have received so far?

Author: S. Edwards Reply #13 Posted: Feb 14 2011 10:31AM

Good question. Can you also break it down as to how many from each city. Or if you have any out of province or out of country

Author: perennial underdog Reply #14 Posted: Feb 14 2011 11:04AM

Moreover,Will,will this tournament be seeded?

Author: S. Edwards Reply #15 Posted: Feb 14 2011 11:15AM

Another excellent question.

Author: Darcy Reply #16 Posted: Feb 14 2011 11:40AM

Yeah, and what kind of score counters will we be using and what colour?

Author: S. Edwards Reply #17 Posted: Feb 14 2011 11:54AM

That is also a good question. Since it is on fireball they do have two different types of score markers.

Mr.Viagra, first let me say, again, how sorry i am to hear of your recent...er...difficulties(?).Keep a ...er...stiff upper lip!!

Author: Will Reply #20 Posted: Feb 14 2011 2:22PM

I don't have enough fingers and toe's to count the registrations, so I can't give you an exact number. The registrations have come in faster and in higher number than Nationals.

I'm thinking that Jim Stevens, WEM, and 12 new Fireball tables combine to make this event more exciting than any of the other previous events the EFL has run. We should see our biggest turnout yet.

This tournament will be seeded. The groups will be drawn based on the new Western Canadian Points which will be out any time now.

I’ll explain using an example of 16 players and 4 groups of 4 to save me some time. Groups are A, B, C, and D. The highest ranked player is 1, the lowest ranked player is 16.

1 – A
2 – B
3 – C
4 – D
5 – D
6 – C
7 – B
8 – A
9 – A
10 – B
11 – C
12 – D
13 – D
14 – C
15 – B
16 – A

The top ½ or more players will qualify for the Open Bracket – I will get as many players as possible into the double elimination open chart. Once the registration is complete on game day I will be able to confirm the group size and the number of teams/players that will qualify from each group.

It looks like for Open Singles we will have 72-84 players. 12 groups of 6 or 7 players.

If we have about 40 players we would do 4 groups of 10 players, and that way everyone gets 9 games, but we could use 3 tables per group so the games would go faster.

If we have more than 84 players in Open Singles(unlikely) I would need to decrease the group stage games by making it groups of 4 (so everyone only plays 3 games). Some groups would start there group play on Saturday morning.
