This week we did a Super Draw Your Partner!

Any event that is preceded by the name Super means we divide the league up into two tiers. We had the highest ranked 8 players playing in one DYP, and the lower ranked 10 players playing in the second DYP. Once the two DYP's finished, we had the 3rd place teams play off for $15, the second place teams play off for $30, and the first place teams (after each team received $10 ) played off for $25.

For the play-offs tonight we used the format of a race to 7, the lower ranked team started at 4 points. It made for some really intense match-ups in the money games.

In the first DYP we had Simon and Chad against Chris and Will to start off the tournament. After losing the first game, Simon and Chad really turned it on. Chad blocked a few consecutive shots and scored some nasty slingshots, Simon took over the game on the 5 row with patience and smart decisions. He really picked apart 5 bars the whole night, and was catching lightning fast lane passes or downhill walls.

Up next for Simon and Chad was a match VS Christian and Darcy. Simon kept up the good work on his 5 and was drilling Darcy pretty good too. Christian didn't appear to be at his best on the night, but I guess it would be tough to play at that level all the time. It also probably had a lot to do with Simon being so patient and smart on the 5 row that Christian couldn't get momentum going.

Chris and Will took out Christian and Darcy in the next match, and then came into the final against Simon and Chad. In the first match both forwards were passing well, but Chris had come up with a defense that was working really well. He sort of baited the long and got back to it in time (something that isn't easy to do against a pull as fast as Simon can shoot). Simon and Chad got up 4-1 in the second game of the match, but with some lucky bounces and strait up willpower Chris and Will fought back into the game. At 4-4 Chris made a huge block and then hit a near wall bank to win. The near wall bank is a really nice option (looks strangely similar to Mikes near wall bank) and because Chris sets it up and shoots it from the same spot as his #1 option push shot it is tough to cover both holes.

In the second match Simon adjusted on his 3 bar and started to take a little bit more time, the first two games were both close and went 1-1 to take it to the final game in the final match. Simon blocked a couple of passes and put the ball away, and then both teams traded goals twice. 4-2 for Simon and Chad, but again this time Will and Chris powered their way back into the game. At 4-4 with Chris playing up he got the ball and took a time out on the 5 for a switch. Simon blocked the pass and got the ball on his 3 bar, Chris made a block on an ill timed middle. Sets up... and POUNDS the near wall bank home to win it.

In the 2nd tier DYP Darrel and Ritchie tore up the tournament, without coming too close to losing any games. Garret and Rob were the big story in this one though, after losing their first game they came back through the losers side beating Ray and Carlie, Devon and Michael, and then Zak and Kevin consecutively in some really tight matches.

In the final Ritchie and Darrel took it to the bank and won the event.

In the money matches we had 3rd places Kevin and Zak playing against Christian and Darcy. With a 4 point spot in a race to 7(win by 2) Kevin got the ball and put the first one away, and then 2nd one away, essentially dooming Darcy and Christian immediately. Somehow this night had not been going Christians way, every time he had the ball he looked a little uncomfortable and wasn't making the best decisions... until this exact moment(file that under obvious foreshadowing).

In the 2nd place match Simon and Chad were dominant, and scored 7 goals quickly to win the match 7-5 after giving up the spot.

In the 1st place money match, Will and Chris put a couple in, then Ritchie and Darrel turned it on. Darrel made 3-4 great blocks and Ritchie shot well to take the game 7-4.

To finish off, Christian and Darcy came back with 8 consecutive goals to win the game and the money match after being down 6-0!

We also ran a 9:00 DYP which I didn't see much of, but Chris and Ben Crocket came from the losers bracket to double dip Cam and Devin in the final. What a night for Chris, won both DYP's that he played in with double dips in the finals - won two 4-4 matches with an insane bank, and moves all the way up to 12th spot on the league standings!

We lost on purpose, we didn't want to give Ritchie a 4 spot

No doubt, that wasn't a bad idea - we hardly had a chance at it.

Wasnt a double dip, we ran out of time. we had one the first game in the final..then it was tied 1 1 in the second and we ran out of time and decided that last ball wins.. devin was playing awesome, he deserved to win! with a few big goals from the back each game and huge blocks on chris who was shooting great as always! fun night last night!

Thats true Cam, You guys were playing very well. I think if we had time to finish it you and Devin would have won the way you two were playing. Great shooting, both of you.

Great playing Ben.C and WIll. Had a great time playing with both you guys. Clutch shooting Will!
