Topic: Tuesday Feb 15th Event

Author: Will Original Message Posted: Feb 10 2011 7:22PM

This Tuesday we will be doing... Super Singles

If we have 20 or less players it will be a two tiered event like we are used to.

If we have 21 or more players it will be three tiers with 7 players or more each.

In the playoff:

Tier 1 player has to score 8 goals to win
Tier 2 player has to score 5 goals to win
Tier 3 player has to score 3 goals to win

1st in Tier 1 plays vs 1st in Tier 2. Winner plays 1st in Tier 3.

Same goes for 2nd place and 3rd place.

Tier 1 - 2/3 or 3/5

Author: Will Reply #2 Posted: Feb 11 2011 12:10PM

We'll have to make a game time decision on that one. If we have 3 full 8 charts we probably won't be able to do 3/5 until kingseat, losers bracket final, and the final. I definately want to get in as many 3/5 matches as possible in all tiers if that is what players want.

If we have a typical turnout, this is what the tournaments would look like. If different people show up the divisions could be slightly different - for the most part this is what the skill levels will be like though.
Tier 1
Dunn, Christian
Edwards, Simon
Stranks, Will
Burgardt, Garry
Wilkins, Ben
Myszczyszyn, Tobin
Scaife, Darcy
Luft, Carey

Tier 2 (Spot 3 points)
Kerr, Chris
Tse, Desmond
Johnston, Mike
Humberstone, Paul
Jones, Darrel
Daly, Ritchie
Spencer, Chad
Wilkins, Sam

Tier 3 (spot 5 points)
Djacovic, Christof
Kimber, Daniel
Gish, Brian
Burrows, Cam
Perira, Carlos
Phenix, Garret
Moir, Zak
Nasir, Uzair

Emailed you

Author: Will Reply #7 Posted: Feb 15 2011 3:39PM

Turnout is looking good for tonight! Should be $40 for first, $30 for 2nd, $20 for 3rd, and $15 for 4th.

If you come in 1st in any of the 3 events you will get your money back, then play off for the amounts listed above (estimated payouts)

As far as having a DYP at 9:00 we will have to see how the event is going... hope to get something in.

Will, I think the super DYP and the Super Singles were a big success. I think its a really good format. Great turnout last night. Maybe we could try a super BYP before Vegas. Might be good to get some playing time in with your doubles partner before we go. I am assuming most players that are going from edmonton have partners sorted out.

It was a good night- lots of competitive foos.

Pulling 2 more tables out of the backroom would be my only suggestion...lol

Saw some really competitive rookie matches between some players, most noticably Zak & ____.

Sorry guys - I have been tied up all day moving tables for the youth group event on friday night.

I'll do up a real post tomorrow, but for now I'll give some updates. Simon and Garry were both on fire last night.

Tier 1(8 players):
Simon (kingseat)
Garry (B side winner)
Christian 3rd
Will 4th

Tier 2(10 players):
1st Chris
2nd Paul
3rd Chad
4th Sam

Tier 3 (12 players):
1st Christof
2nd Darren
3rd Rob
4th Ray

We had 30 players, but not one of them was a new players at their first event, which is actually kind of cool.

It was really slow going doing singles on 4 tables, so we won't be able to do that again until we get more tables in there.

Great playing all around, I saw a lot of great matches.

Author: perennial underdog Reply #18 Posted: Feb 16 2011 9:30PM

This is like a fight between Ali and Larry Holmes, one of those classics with 15 rounds.I expect a round by round update!

Author: Will Reply #19 Posted: Feb 16 2011 9:59PM

No I don't want to bet, I'm mostly just trying to spark something, I'm starting to think I shouldn't post anymore.
