This week we did a DYP, with two Tiers. We had an unusually low turnout of 24 players... but expect it to be because of the nice weather and some golfing going on.
Up next week is going to be one of our biggest events of the summer, with Corporate Challenge going on this weekend at the Mall we expect to have a ton of new players out, as well as a lot of the regular crew. With $$$ added and a team event on this Tuesday, we might break our record attendance!
In the Tier 1 DYP we had an exciting tournament. With Chris and Dan taking on powerhouse long time partners and pro's Garry and Simon. Garry and Simon came out strong, but Chris and Dan managed to take the game to 5-3 in the 3rd game.
Darcy continued his domination of Christians 5 row, and kept shooting well. Tobin also came up big in the back with key blocks against Christian... Darcy and Tobin took the win.
Paul and I went on a nice run throughout the night, fighting hard in every match for every point. We lost to Simon and Garry very quickly for the kingseat match, but then played against Darcy and Tobin in the B Side Final. That game went to meat ball, 4-4 in the 3rd game, but we found a way to close it out.
In the final we really played strong for 3 games, and were up a game in the second set of the final, but Simon really picked great holes on his 3 row, and Garry made adjustments to his defense to come up with key blocks. Our 5 rows demolished eachother, and we both passed nearly 100%. Paul scored a bunch of goals from his 2 bar, and Garry passed to Simon really well. It was an exciting final and very well played. I gotta admit that Paul hung in with 3 of the top 4 pro's in the city, and did not look out of place at all.
In the end Simon and Garry were the powerhouse they looked like on paper, and they won the tournament!
In Tier 2 there was a really even draw, and there was a ton of close games too. Sam stepped up with his 2nd strait tournament win (won the tier 1 draw last week, and now the tier 2 draw playing front). Uzi was also clutch, as he seems to be whenever he comes back from a long layoff. Tony came out and really got his push kick heated up over some time. Dan Kimber also came on strong after an early loss, and they worked there way together back to the final.
Sam and Uzair won the tournament.
Results: Tier 1: 1st Garry and Simon 2nd Will and Paul 3rd Darcy and Tobin
Tier 2: 1st Uzi and Sam 2nd Tony and Dan K 3rd Mike F and Chris G
