Last night we had two separate events, and players had to pick which one to play in. We had a Singles event and a DYP... For Singles we had the strongest field at an Edmonton tournament since May 17th at Gateway last year. Conrad, Jamie, Roger, Simon, Christian, Ritchie, and Will all showed up for the event. In the DYP we had four teams that it would have been VERY hard to predict who would win, a very even draw. Des and Maria really showed up for the night, pulling off a comeback victory against Sam and Ray after going down a game. In the end Kieran and Chris Kerr were too good, and beat Des and Maria for Kingseat and then in the Final as well. Kieran had some really stellar D and Chris was playing his usual excellent game... scoring push and pull sides as well as middles throughout the night. In Singles, Conrad came out flying against Christian. Conrad was one lucky bounce away from pulling out either game, but a few costly turnovers were the difference and Christian won 2 strait. Jamie played a really good game against Roger, winning in 3 - then face me in the second round. He gave me a really good run for it, blocking my roller well and scoring a high percentage. I got enough shots and slop to pull off the win though. Simon beat Christian primarily on a barrage of strait's from his pull set, then played me for Kingseat. In our match I was having issues finding a hole in Simon's D, but I rattled a few in from my 2 row and successfully used a club to the strait hole when I was setting up... I won that match and then watched to see who would come to face me in the final. Ritchie beat Conrad in another very tight one, 5-4 5-4.. Then Ritchie beat Jamie, and progressed to face Roger coming off a really nice upset of Christian in 3 games. Roger scrapped out the win against Ritchie, when it really could have gone either way. In the B side final, Roger lost game 1 but then put up a wall on his 5 row to keep the ball off Simon's 3 bar. In game 2 and 3 Roger out hustled Simon and also shot really well. Rog got the victory and then played me in the final. It was also a close match, but I came out with the win.
