On Saturday we had our third monthly Pro Tour event, the 15th event that has been run on the Canadian Pro Tour since February this year. This was just a smaller scale club event, but we had the best players in Edmonton out to represent. We ran Open Doubles and Open Singles, and had some great matches played. There were a few talking points, like Taras and Ritchie climbing there way through some tough teams in the losers bracket and working there way into 3rd place in Open Doubles. Also Maria and Candace pulled off a shocking upset in Open Doubles and ended up in 7th place, one of the more exciting matches of the Saturday night. In Open Singles, Ben lost his 2nd match to Ray... but that wouldn't be enough to stop him. In the last Canadain Pro Tour event for Ben he took 2nd place in Open Singles, and 2nd place in Open Doubles. This time he fought all the way throught the losers side, beating Bob, Conrad, and Simon on his way back to the final. The final was a match against myself, and Ben stormed out winning the first set 2 strait. In the second set he pulled off a 5-4 win in the 3rd game, to close out his first Pro tour championship. In Open Doubles Ben and I were partnered up, so after battling out the Singles final, we played a semi-final against Conrad and Ray before moving to the kingseat match against Christian and Simon. We ended up beating Christian and Simon in that match, and then again in the final. Ben is the first player in Edmonton to double at a pro tour event, winning Singles and Doubles in the same event. Another great match was Chris and Mike taking Simon and Christian to 5-4 in the 3rd game, but Simon and Christian won that one on the last ball.
