Topic: EXEC - discussion - Ottawa foos event ITSF event?<

Author: foosghost Original Message Posted: Feb 28 2007 10:54PM

Since the "Canada Cup" Ottawafoos event is already announced (http://forum.ottawafoos.com/index.php?showtopic=1570) and we have a real good connection with OttawaFoos, would it make more sense to use that event as one of our ITSF Offical Events?

This would most likely mean that the foosapalooza event would no longer be a ITSF Pro series event, and the ottawa foos event would be.

Should we do this?

one bad thing i can see, is that most likely our other ITSF event(s) are also in the east, so we've misbalanced things a bit, so no ITSF events in the west.

thoughts?

Although I like the idea of an itsf event in Ottawa, I think I would rather have one itsf event in the east and one in the west. From what I understand, Foosapalooza is still a go, its just at a later date. I think, if possible, that it should be the itsf event.

On the other hand - CalgaryFoos hasnt joined TSAC yet.. are they going to ? This may be a moot point if they never join... then they cant have Foosapalooza as an itsf event.

Calgaryfoos is a website run by myself and Kent. There is no formal foosball association in Calgary.

Haven't heard any more info on the Foosapalooza tournament.

As long youve got a website and someone (or more than 1 someone) who is running things, you can call yourself a city or provincial association (the requirements are a website, names of people and email or snailmail addresses).. especially since you liaise with a vending company that does run events. You are the voice of the players in your community.

looks like discussion has died down on this topic. if no one has anything more to say, then we'll go to a vote starting thursday.

another idea is to keep the foosapalooza event as itsf , but then have ottawa (and not the quebec city bonzini event) be itsf pro tour event.

PO, Regis, what are your thoughts on this?

we should probably find out how important being ITSF sanctioned is to foosapalooza. I mean yes, we did try to have one in the east and one in the west and one tornado and one bonzini for balance, but if the western players really dont care - i have been approached by Chris Thomas who said that the OFA was willing to cover some of the ITSF sanctioning fee themselves.

If the people who run Foosapalooza and the COFC dont care much about itsf sanctioning, we can have both pro events in the east. If they do, we can find another workaround.

I do not really think the ITSF sanction is very important to SML.

What about the COFC? Is Barry interested in the ITSF sanction?

Barring who ever else wants to ITSF sactioning on their tournament, it appears that OFA does. So lets vote on just that - and we can figure out where the other sactioning will go later - right now OFA has expressed their desire to have their tournament be one of Canada's ITSF Pro Series events.

EXEC Vote:

Should we have the "Canada Cup" OFA event be an ITSF Pro Series event?

Email only NO votes to me, all other votes will be considered YES votes.

Voting will end Wed, March 14, at 11:59pm PST.

Vote results are in:

Yes: Unanimous.

The OFA "Canada Cup" event slated to run May 4-6, has been accepted to be an ITSF Pro Series event.

We still have to submit this to the USTSF (because they are co-ordinating all north american itsf events)and then eventually to the ITSF - but i dont see a problem.

It's official..

just got this email from Larry Davis (USTSF president)

Eric,

It's a done deal (approved by ITSF). Please let Chris know, and publicly
announce as appropriate!

Respectfully,
Larry D.
