Topic: Yikes: Membership dues for 2008 = 500 Euro
|
|
I just received a document stating the new ITSF membership dues for 2008, and since we are now a Regular member, we will have to pay a minimum of 500 €:
Here's what it said:
- 1 € per player - Minimum: 500 €; maximum: 2000 € - Based on number of players at the end of the national federation’s previous registration period - To be paid by January 1st.
What do we get out of it: - Can organize any official tournament in the ITSF Tour - Can send players to all ITSF Official tournaments (including world cup) - Can get refund from sales of ITSF licences on tables (20 euros for each Official Competition Table sold in your country) - Can get 100% of travel package available in ITSF world events (for those players who qualify for the package)
Do we need to have some serious discussion as to how we're going to raise money for the following: 2008 Dues - 500 Euro ($680) Help National Champions get to World Championships - ??? CND dollars 2010 Send our entire Canadian team to World cup

That sucks. We weren't covering costs even when it was only 250 euros. I think we may have to let associations (AQBB, OFA) pay for their own ITSF sanctioning fees. That way if we have 60 or Tornado players paying 5$ each and 60 or so Bonzini players paying 5$ each, we can cover the annual fee, but not the sanctioning fee.
We should really try to find some sponsorship money. Even a few hundred dollars would really help. The OFA is trying to raise money through the Canadian government and they've registered as non-profit and they have a board of directors and everything. We should do this too, maybe we can apply for some funding from the government. I'm going to be out of town for a few days, but when I get back I'll look into that.

There's talk on the public boards about people willing to put in 30ish dollars to help offset the costs of the ITSF membership. That's great.
Possibly we should look into actually charging for our memberships. something like $25.
Or have two different levels of memberships. $5 level - just gets the basic services. $25 level - gets some additional services. What are these services?? i'm not sure at this point.
$5 - standard membership - for those that wish to be a member but cant afford to support our large ITSF membership fee.
$25 - gold membership - for those that wish to be a member, but would like to give a bit extra. Possibly with Gold memberships we can send in thier picture to the ITSF web site, so they'll show up in their rankings. Any player that wishes to compete for or qualify for a canadian team should be a gold member - cause they ultimately would be the ones benefitting from our membership in the ITSF.
We'd need to setup a system for people to be able to easily pay for these memberships. paypal makes sense to me, but I'm not sure how many of our players are able to use that.
We'd need to contact all the major promoters / associations and get thme to collect membership dues - and setup a system in which they send it in to us.

Another possibility is to hold a raffle.
Due to Canada finishing 2nd (at the worlds), the team won I think around $1000 in valley bucks (only to be used towards the purchase of a new tornado foosball table).
We could hold a raffle, for $50 a ticket (or some number), we could order a table and have it shipped to the winner.
Or heck skip the middle man. anyone planning on buying a table in the near future.. Trade us for the valley bucks - and we can pay for our membership, and you still get your table.
It'll make a nice Christmas present!! B-)

I found the valley bucks, and there's actuall $1500 worth of them.. So very close to a table.
|
|
There's been a couple of parties that have expressed interest in using the valley bucks, and how they work.
So i've sent the following email off to the sales folks at valley:
Hi Cheryl We're interested in using those Valley bucks that you gave us at the 2007 Tornado World Championships. How do we go about using them? Will a distributor know what they are? Do we need to purchase the table strait from Valley? Who do you recommend we contact to buy a table? We'd like to see a price list as well. Thanks again, Eric Dunn Table Soccer Association of Canada

and here is there response:
Eric,
Here is the outline on the special. It appears that you need to go in to a retailer to redeem.
Valley Consumer Foosbucks
At the World Foosball Championship in Las Vegas, NV Sept. 26- 30, we handed out Foosbucks that are coupons with designated amounts off of the new line of consumer foosball tables: F- 5 = $100 off, Cyclone = $80 off, Storm = $60 and Whirlwind = $40 off. We also gave Foosbucks to each member of the 1st and 2nd place international teams: 1st Place = $200 and 2nd Place = $150.
The stipulation was that the coupon had to be turned into the retailer for the consumer to receive the discount and only one coupon per unit will be honored. This actual coupon then will be sent to us by the retailer. he Foosbucks coupons expire on December 31, 2007. As a reminder, these coupons are only valid towards the new consumer foosball tables that we just launched last month.
|
|
so this basically means that they are useless to us. we cant use them all at once. i have 10 $150 coupons.
I remember Cheryl telling me at worlds that they could be lumped together, so the team thought we could pool them all together. I guess not
