Topic: Bi-Elections

Author: foosghost Original Message Posted: Feb 9 2008 5:55PM

FYI: this is the section in our current constitution concerning bi-elections:

6.9 By-Elections
6.9.1 A By-Election can occur if an executive member resigns their position, or if there is desire to filled a previously unfilled position on the executive
6.9.2 A By-Election can also occur if an executive member has not been sufficiently active. The following criteria (or very close) must be met
6.9.2.1 The executive member must have been inactive on the TSAC forums for at least 6 months
6.9.2.2 The executive member must have not emailed the president with a vote for at least 6 months
6.9.2.3 There must be complaints from the represented players as to the level of representation provided by the executive member
6.9.3 A By-Election can also occur if or their represented players feel that their interests are not being served by their executive member. In this case, at least 51% of the executive’s player base must call for a By-Election
6.9.26.9.4 A By-Election must be announced on TSAC website and on all provincial and city forums
6.9.36.9.5 Nominations will be accepted by the TSAC president for 2 weeks
6.9.46.9.6 After the 2 week period is over, if there is only 1 nominee for the position in question, that person wins by default
6.9.56.9.7 If there is more than 1 nominee, TSAC will hold a vote for that position. The voting period will be 1 week long and will allow only TSAC members that identify themselves as belonging to the province/table of the position in question to vote.
6.9.66.9.8 After the voting has ended, the winner shall be declared by TSAC on the TSAC website and all provincial and city forums

We need to run bi-elections to fill our unfilled, and inactive positions.

Our current situation is this:
unfilled: Quebec & Maritimes - Garlando
Regis: Quebec & Maritimes - Tornado
PO : Quebec & Maritimes - Bonzini
Taha: Ontario - Tornado
Sean: Ontario - FABI
Mike, Paul: Saskatchewann - Tornado
Brian, unfilled: Alberta - Tornado
Eric: BC - Tornado with Tim acting as BC Delegate

So currently PO and Regis fall under the inactive requirements.

So we need to vote to remove PO and Regis, and agree to hold bi-election for their positions and the other unfilled positions.

Send your votes to me (dunneri@shaw.ca), by Thursday Feb 14th, 11:59pm PST.

YES vote means that you agree we should remove PO and Regis, and you agree that we will run a bi-election for the remaining unfilled positions:

1 Quebec & Maritimes - Garlando
1 Quebec & Maritimes - Tornado
1 Quebec & Maritimes - Bonzini
1 Alberta - Tornado

OK, votes are in and we have 3 Yes votes (Taha, Mike and Paul) - that's a dissapointing turnout, but enough to pass.

So, PO and Regis are removed from the board due to more than 6 months of inactivity.

and we will be holding bi-elections for the following vacant positions:

1 Quebec & Maritimes - Garlando
1 Quebec & Maritimes - Tornado
1 Quebec & Maritimes - Bonzini
1 Alberta - Tornado

One of the current board members have metioned that they would like to resign their position. So this would be a good time to do that - so that we can run a bi-election in their region now in line with all the other positions.

I'll give members one week to send in their official resignation letters, and then we'll start the bi-elections.

Author: foosghost Reply #3 Posted: Feb 16 2008 5:39PM

So the bi-elections process will start Monday Feb 25th.

Nominations will be accepted by the TSAC president for 2 weeks. (until March 10th) - and if necessary, voting will take place for 1 week. Then on March 17th we'll announce the new executive members.

I encourage the players to either show their interest, or get their promoters / leaders to fill these vacant spots.

Lots of things are coming up that will matter to players all across canada.

- The forming of the 2008 WCS National Teams (Bonzini, Garlando, and Tornado).
- Naming 2008 National Champions for qualification to enter the ITSF World Championships
- The forming of the 2010 world cup team.
Other possibilities:
- A ranking system will be developed.
- a New website
- fun raising for ITSF sanctioning, and world cup team funding.
- and probably many more things that i am forgettting to mention at this point.

We need the help, so please step up, and get involved, so we can get all of the above (and more) done.

We are officially accepting nominations for a bi-election for the following positions:

1 Quebec & Maritimes - Garlando
1 Quebec & Maritimes - Tornado
1 Quebec & Maritimes - Bonzini
1 Alberta - Tornado
1 Saskatchewann - Tornado

If you wish to run for one of these positions, we will need to receive a nomination from someone else stating the name of the person being nominated, and what region they wish to run for.

You cannot nominate yourself.

email nominations to dunneri@shaw.ca

we will be accepting nominations until March 10th.

As we receive the nominations, we'll post who's been nominated here: http://www.saskfoos.com/view_topic.asp?ParentID=42380&x=3&domain=VAN&searchterm=

I'll do my best to spread the word on all the message boards. Feel free to copy this message to any boards you see fit.

The west - not so much.

ok the voting period has ended, and here are the results:

Quebec & Maritimes - Tornado
Julien Beaumier-Ethier: 16 votes
Jean-Christophe GHIBAUDO: 16 votes

Yes, we had exactly 16 votes each - so we have a tie, and given the fact that our current constitution does not outline what to do in the case of a tie in a bi-election, I think we'll have to bring it to a TSAC exec vote for TSAC as to what we should do.

Quebec & Maritimes - Bonzini
Michael Tremblay: 28 votes
Karl Demers: 7 votes

Author: foosghost Reply #15 Posted: Mar 20 2008 3:51AM

For completeness, there were 5 spoiled ballots (people not specifying what table they played on)

Author: foosghost Reply #16 Posted: Mar 20 2008 4:31AM

If anyone would like to see the results: here they are

http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p3-zzjSZ4vNe5rKivxxudRg&output=pdf

the colored columns shows which votes counted toward wich position. This is done because only the players that play on a table can vote for that exec position.

Sheet 2 is how i counted the bonzini votes
Sheet 3 is how i counted the tornado votes.
