How was the turnout this time around?

Author: Kent Reply #4 Posted: Apr 20 2008 10:40PM

The turnout could have been better but it was fun and challenging. Some good matches.

I thought playing FIVE 5-4 games against Ang and Ivor was stressful but the drive home was insane. About 30 cars in the ditch and thats not an exageration.

Author: Viper Reply #8 Posted: Apr 21 2008 3:34AM

Well at least you made it back Christian

Author: S. Edwards Reply #9 Posted: Apr 21 2008 10:45AM

The drive was way less stressful than having Dave (tourrets) Ahn on your team

OK, fixed the slow loading of pages with Videos for now so if you had problems with some pages they should work better.

I have also provided a link to a MP4 video of the Open Doubles final where Ang and Ivor double dipped Eric and Greg.

Summary (Kent's View)
1. Ivor and Ang played great defense in goal and 5-bar.
2. Some issues (13:32) in regards to comments made during the match but it was not the real reason Eric and Greg lost. Yes there should have been a penalty or two called but watching the match I just think defense made the difference.

Quiz
How many times was Eric blocked in the second match in game 4? It is near the end of the video.

How to View the MP4
Use the latest quicktime or download VLC player for Windows.

If requested I can provide a high quality video (High-Def) of the final. Oh yeah first time trying to use my new camera so yes I could have done a better job but heh we have a video.

Oh yeah, this is hosted off of my home server so it could take a while to download since it is 251MB.

If someone knows where to host it in the same quality (MP4) go ahead.

If i remember correctly, most of the blocks in the 4th game came at that 3-2 point. that took forever. ang scored eventualy.

I'm downloading it now. I love to watch my matches. I always learn so much Its always interesting to see the differences between what you remember of the match, and then to see it on tape afterwards.

Yea ivor blocked great - i had my chances. congrats to ang and iver, a well deserved win.

lets see if i remember the final game correctly.
they scored 2 points to get a 2-0 lead. one off a quick slow wall pass that was blocked back to ang's 3 i think. then we battled for a bit, and we got back to 2-2. I think i hit a couple of cut middles. they scored to go up 3-2 (not sure how). the 3-2 point went for a long time. I think i called one timeout in there somewhere. There was a bunch of discussion around ang's 'potty mouth' B-). i was only partially joking - i just wanted matt (who was reffing) to do something - earn a free shot or something on a technicial shot. it did not effect the match at all.

ah crap my downloads stalled again. once i'm able to download them, and watchem, i'll post if there's anything interesting to add.

Good playing all weekend Eric, it was a pleasure to see how your game has improved.

Yeah the foul language during a match is not right even it is not directed at another person. Not sure but you might be able to pick this up on the video. You can here it clearly when he scored that one time.

Thanks for the video Kent. Finally got a chance to watch it. Ang seemed to wait out the defense a little more than Eric. Good playing by all.
