Eric, I suggest you go and check it out. Let us know what you find out.

I'm glad you started this thread because I also wanted to address something Tim said in his email to Eric. (Not saying that his understanding is/was wrong, just that he does not know the whole story that pertains to me receiving my tables.) Just want everyone to know all the facts.

That weekend I won a total of two foos tables, two sets of golf clubs, cash and jackets. I was given the cash at the tournament and was told I would receive a phone call within a few weeks to get info for the personalized golf clubs. They took my info for my jacket and I was given t shirts and tank tops as well. I was also told that I could take my tables from the tournament and have them shipped or I could wait and get the improved version, as there were some flaws which came about from the production process having to be sped up. Of course I decided to wait.

Within a few weeks we did receive a phone call to collect all the information for my golf clubs. (I don't golf, so we had one set designed for Peter and the other a standard set..so if anyone wants to purchase one cheap..you know where to call. ) We received the golf clubs and my jacket all within an acceptable period of time.

The issue regarding the tables. Well up until now..(they never ever gave any sort of time frame) there was no "improved version" so very few people had any hopes of collecting their tables. I had already stated on the foosboard that I didn't really care if I got my tables or not, so Jay Barthalow from CA had a great idea and asked me if he could donate my Warrior tables from the tournament to a boy's and girl's club in CA. Course I wasn't going to say no. Didn't matter to me about the tables, so told him I thought that was a wonderful idea. He hooked up with Ken Oda, who works for Brendan, and worked it out with them. As far as I am concerned...worked out for everyone.

I know I have a bit of a different mentality than most and I'm a bit easier going when it comes to stuff like this. I just realize that there's never a guarantee that I'm going to win, therefore I haven't really lost anything anyway.

My point really is to the fact that Warrior did make good on everything they said they would do for me. Just wanted to make that clear.

I'm all for it. Do it up. From what I have heard your going to love the table. This is time to try and figure out a little tour for Canada. I hear Ottawa is having a tournament on Warrior. Its a great way to start for Canada.

Enjoy the weekend...

I played on the legend in Seattle for a one day tournie, and its not that it was super bad, but I could not imagine playing a tour on it. I just have no interest to actually travel to play on the that table again. I feel the same way towards warrior, I am sure it will be fun once, but I don't think it can sustain any lasting appeal.

I think that it is worth investigating the Warrior Table. If Mary is switching all her tour tables over, that could bolster some life into the Warrior "Tour"

Is Legend going into production and starting a tour anytime soon?

I agree with Mario, Eric, you should definately go down on their dime. I think that we should give any support that we can to Mary for what she is doing for foosball.

As far as any conflict of interest I think Eric is doing the right thing bringing this forward to the board. That said, what is the plan for the decision on whether or not you will accept the invatation? Popular Opinion? A Vote?

If he looks anything like me he must be one good looking mo-fo. He must be a good singer its in the looks.

Im not sure who is going from Toronto yet. I am trying my hardest to find a way to get there. Its bad Timing. I have 2 weddings around that time and my cousins is the week after and he needs my help with some last minute shit. So still up in the air.

I think the regulars will be going Kane, Olavo, Hugo, Mike I doubt Sean will be going. He has another baby brewing up.

I would say between Ontario and Quebec there should be about 10 people going.

Eric dont do a 1 night trial. Go for a weekend if possible. It will be better for everyone if you stay the weekend make friends with Warrior and enjoy yourself. Its all about Net working and figuring out how we can help them help us.

Hey Guys:

How many of you guys from Ontarion/Quebec are planning on going to Lexington and buying a warrior table?

Ottawa Foosball Association is looking at getting nine tables for the Boys and Girls Club. We would be using them for a tournament in Ottawa before we hand them over. So if you want to tag on to our order we can have the tables shipped to Ottawa, help our tournament be bigger, and save you guys bringing them across the border.

I have some of the same concerns as Tim WRT yet another table with big plans, but little to show yet. However, I agree that the backing of Mary is huge and also Brendan clearly is willing (and more than able) to "throw some money at it" to get it started and I'm not sure anyone else was ever in the position to do so.

In any case, without Mary, the Tornado tour will be 1-2 tournaments and I wouldn't be surprised if those fold within the year.....so do we really have any choice. TFor that matter, does the ITSF really have any choice. They need the US and right now the US means MAry. I don't see that we have anything to lose by rubber-stamping Mary's decision. (From what I have seen, being in Mary's good books can't hurt either.)

WORST CASE SCENARIO would seem to be that Warrier flops and Mary is "enticed" to return to Tornado. However, even that would likely be with some sort of incentives from Tornado, so that would not necessarily be bad. ....given the current sorry state of Tornado, what's to lose?

AS for the trip......I have no objections. It occurred to me that they could send us a table to KEEP for about the same amount of money, but as already pointed out, they are not at present able to do so. I can also see the value of officially meeting Brendan. Maybe Eric can even wrangle a future Canadian tour stop from Mary and Brendan in exchange for our support now.

Enough good players have endorsed the table that I have no doubt that the prototype is a quality table and will earn ERic's endorsement. Personally, I'm a little sorry that it is as much of a Tornado clone as it reportedly is, but that would seem a safe way to go in the US. My only real concern is that, to my knowledge, the production version of new tables has ALWAYS turned out to be very different from the prototype. The last Warrior was certainly no exception to that rule. Brendan is determined to make his table much more affordable than Tornado. (I believe that the cost cutting on the production model was what led to most of the complaints about the first Warrior and to Johnny distancing himself from it.) I would be curious whether or not Brendan can offer any guarantees that the production model will play the same as the prototype.

Hey Eric:

I saw an update on the vote on the exec site, but can you provide a little more details?

Did you go to Cali?
Did you get my email regarding my questions to Mary?

Regards

Cool,

It had been a week and I still hadn't heard anything, so I was just checking in.

If we go ahead with this tournament in Ottawa, any of you guys from out West thinking of coming out? I am still working on the flyer but there would $6000 in Open events, $2400 in Expert and $1200 in Rookie. Packages would be $140 (that includes everything, table fees, registration fees, entry fees, yada yada yada) You can play in all event in your IFP division and higher. There would be MD and WS as well.

Regards

Chris

Sorry everyone and Mo for any confusion I may have caused - I was stating my concerns about Warrior and now you have addressed one of them. Thanks for the info and good move donating the tables to the club.

Chris, when would your tourney be? I doubt I'd make it over but if the timing worked I would think about it.

Tim
