Topic: World Cup Discussion

Author: NOVAPULL Original Message Posted: Jul 21 2008 3:34PM

I was just curious about the discussion for the 2010 world cup team. Does the world cup tournament happen every year or is it like the olympics? If it is every year why are we talking about the 2010 team instead of the 2008 team. Also, is the tornado world championships having a mini world cup event again? If so are we going to have a round robin qualifing tournament at the worlds to decide the team? I think that last years highest ranking canadian in open singles should automatically qualify for the team. But then again i'm biased. But seriously i think it should count for something.

I think its every 4 years. The last one was 2006 in Germany.

Same as soccer's (or football's) World Cup. The foos one is every four years, in the same country, same year as the soccer one.

MB, has your game gotten any better from foosapalooza?

Author: NOVAPULL Reply #5 Posted: Jul 21 2008 8:35PM

Hey Dave,

I would say my game is not as polished as the last world championships or 2008 HOFC(foosapalooza proved that). But everyones game peeks at different times. Im not trying to make excuses but i was pretty burned out from playing in the hall of fame classic. Double dipping a player like joey smith in the VIFA finals or eliminating Adriane Zamora from OS are not easy feats. I think that i have accomplished some pretty majot results and at the moment my issue is mental consistency. Essentaially not playing down to weaker players. I'm taking the worlds serisouly this year again so im not worried. You should be though Seriously though are you coming down this year?

Regarding World Cup of the foos variety - they've gone and blown up the schedule I described above. Mere hours after I posted.

Time for me to shut up and go back to lurking.

but matt does ask a good question about the tornado world's and the ITSF team event.

We kind of forgot about that. . Yes they are still having this event, and we have not made any decisions as to how we're going to form the team this year.

I'll start a thread on the ning site, and we'll see what people think.

I ain't sure Matt, I'm going to Montreal and New York to visit my pals there. With all my lap dances, alcohol induced parties, and going out to restuarants everyday, if i have enough funds to by the time Vegas rolls by, you will see me there.

How much does a Vegas trip cost you before not including any gambling?

Author: NOVAPULL Reply #10 Posted: Jul 22 2008 7:09PM

Dave,

It's about $1000-$1200CAN for the whole trip.

$400 flights
$200 hotels (split between two for 5 days)
$150 food
$250 Buy-in/table fees
