Topic: Tornado is the best Table hands down!!!

Author: The Next One. Original Message Posted: Aug 16 2008 9:54PM

Just finished off my foosball table tour in Montreal.

Played on Garlando and Bonzini. Garlando is definately better than Bonzini. However, sorry to say, Tornado is definately the best table ever. I talked to Garlando and Bonzini players and they seem to think other wise (what a suprise). A point a did agree with them was that they grew up playing on these tables so they have a preference to them. The funny thing is Bonzini's and Garlando's each cost a dollar to play on and the best table cost 75 cents hahaha.

Tornado, is just a better table all around. Better quality men, bars, balls, handles, control, playing surface you name it.

I am now in town. Jet lagged but in town. I will try to hit Soho tonight but will flame out pretty early probably.

I have a problem with the word "better". It is too open to interpretation and does not ever lead to any agreement or any action.

I prefer to use other words in desrcibing a table like:

Consistent.
Well built.
Durable.
Predictable.
Sturdy.
Flexible (i.e. allowing for multiple playing styles).
Exciting to play on.

The big argument between tables is their flexibilty or conduciveness to different styles of play. I would say that Tornado is more flexible as to styles of play than the other tables you mentioned but perhaps not as good as some others. Whether it is the rod, the man, the ball, the surface etc. certain tables are more or less flexible in allowing for that style of play. Shooting a pull shot with a non-round ball and an unlevel surface, with a wobbly cabinet or legs, would not be fun. It would not let you show your skill and how good your chosen style of play could be.

To me, the Tornado is a good table but is not fully flexible in allowing for banking or for Euros (it is an ok not a great table for this shot).

The next gen Tornado and several other tables (TecBall, perhaps future Warriors, Legends, Garlando Euro, etc.) may be more flexible in style of play but still be comfortable enough for me to play my best on.

If a better table is the one you win tournaments on and you only play tournaments on one type of table you will be biased in favour of that table regardless of which table is "better".

Now which player is better is a diifferent story. I will be trying but likely failing miserably in trying to prove who the best player is. Ha ha.

Hope to see you all soon.

That's great your back Fred. I get into Van at about 10pm, I may stop by to see you.

OMG, Fred, Tornado is better than the rest.

Fred, I took 3 of my pals out with me to go to these various foosball locations. They don't play foosball on any particular table and they ALL said that bonzini and garlando were childrens tables compared to the tornado.

Dave,

Sorry if I missed you. I was there til about 11:30 and only Michael was there and he only plays goalie war. I will probably head over to Tuanos today to kick his butt on the table and bite his dog in the ass. But it usually turns out the other way around.

I also prefer Tornado to those two tables but in building consensus (i.e. swaying opinion) you need to also consider what is is about those tables that the other players prefer which usually comes down to front toe control, grabbing loose balls (cork ball and rubber tipped men), and banking. In those regards the Bonzini is better. The next gen Tonrado will be better than the current generation in those regards but still able to be played your style as well.

By saying one table is better and the other is worse means that one side has to admit being wrong. People don't like to do that. By admitting that the Bonzini is better for front toe but not as good for pull or snake shots you might find some consensus to build on. Then one day those stupid French bastards, I mean the alternately informed Francophone Canadians might start playing on a next Gen Tornado so we can kick their asses without any excuses...

Ha ha. Good to be back!

Fred
