HUGE Thanks to Brian and Andy for putting together such an awesome tournament. Straight up you guys ROCK. I had a blast. I just hope everyone had as much fun as I did. Special thanks to Barry for all the help running the tournament, as well as for letting us borrow his software. I was really impressed with the number of amateurs that came out. I saw a lot of guys with a lot of potential. Keep it up. |

I heard it was a good tournament and there may be a future one coming. Nice to see some tournament(s) in Western Canada. Hopefully I can make the next one. Can I be in the Joey fan club without ever "hearing" him play? |

Thanks to everyone who made things run smoothly! I would try to single you all out but I would surely miss someone. The positive energy at this tournament was awesome. It was nice to see so many people I haven't seen in 3-4 years. Let's do it again next year! Maybe I'll even bring a 3-bar next time :) |

BTW Jeff Joey played in as much "control" of himself as I have seen probably ever( & I would be the best judge of this having played with him as long as I have). Laughing at bad goals scored on him- complimenting his opponents shots and saves- not personally attacking his opponents(that I saw)... It was nice to watch and see his game come back over the course of the weekend( although it was still not close to his best) Great playing Joey I would also like to compliment 2 people's games- Tuan & Eric- both your games have improved immeasurably and it was nice? to get ripped by both of you- enjoy it cause I won't let it happen again...lol Christian- Good playing with U- sorry I didn't have my D or 2 bar all weekend- U deserved better and would have had I showed up! |

Without trying to dredge up any of the trash talking, I was wondering what the guys at the tournament thought of Tuan's game and where you guys thought he ranked in Canada? If any of you were not aware, it was his first time playing with the new men and balls and he felt it hurt some aspects of his game. To Brian, Andy, and Barry thank you for putting on one of the best tournaments I have been to in a long while. The tournament was run on time without major conflicts even with a lot of players for the number of tables. It was great to see such a good turnout. (p.s. thanks to Simon for letting me use his sweet iPod touch stop watch to ref matches. That thing should become standard issue for refs) I also wanted to thank Darrel P for being a great teammate, mentor and friend this was one of the most fun doubles events I have played with you, thanks. To all the new players I hope you got a taste of how fun competitive foosball can be. I saw a lot of talent out there and hope to see you guys/gals back pushing all of us to get better. I would also like to thank Western Canada's elite for coming out to make it a competitive tournament. It's always a pleasure to see you guys play and to play against you. It would be cool to get more Vancouverites next time as the tournament grows :) Finally, I would like to congratulate the champs. Tuan very consistent singles play great shooting on the 3 bar. Now you just need to shoot under 15 seconds and you'll be there :) Joey and Eric great battle. Was a very intense match and one that I’ll remember for a long time. Congrats. |

It's impossible to say- I think it's a combination of US tourneys and Canadian tourneys. In my opinion Kane/Mario would be my choice, but with them so far away from the Western Canada player base(not that we have consistent tourneys out here) an overall ranking would be next to impossible. Tuan is a very good player- but he is not the only one that suffered-trust me on that( ask my partners-lol) |

BTW Dave The world does not start and end in Vancouver...lol You have ignored lots of players from the other side of the mountains that not only have great results in Canada- they have great results against the top players on tour- when they do happen to go down south. Darrel- Matt- Eric- Joey just to name a few. just my 2 cents |

Joey, you still owe me $15 from last year. We played a best outta 3 and you didn't want to play the 3rd game. I'll put it on your tab haha. It's ok actually, we are good. You definately were the player of the tournament this year. 1st in doubles, 2nd in singles, and 2nd in the dyp. Good Stuff |

Matt, Since I am a Canadian just living temporarily in the U.S. I am hoping that I am still part of group 8. Sorry Robbie. Ha ha. I see that you and Robbie are getting ready for a cage match some day. I would pay to see that one by the way. But can trash talking while playing be included? I am guessing that Julien is from Quebec. Who is Dom? I think I read that you were not likely to be at worlds but I hope you might change your mind and if so I will see you there. This was one of the best tournaments I've been to in a long, long time. Most fun and best comaradarie I've seen to be sure since the saskatoon days. Brian, thanks for drive and push to get it going. Andie, get a truck for the pile of thanks for making it happen and keeping it happen. You deserve the props for my first statement. (I've never been 3 minutes away from forfeiting a game before) Barry, as usual you help out every time you come out (same to you Tim). All others who helped out, thanks so much - I feel invigorated about foos again, along with a whole bunch of others. Joey - your controlled enthusiam was, to my awareness a first, exceptionally refreshing and let me commend you on it. You went a long way to building up some respect for yourself. MVP of the tournament! New players and amateurs - don't disappear!!! Tuan - well played. I will enjoy the future run ins we will have. Eric/Joey - That match will go down in my history books as one of top ones to remember - thanks!! Protege #2 - I hope cell #1 survived the constant threats and beatings from cell #2. I am astonished by how fast you were able to absorb and put into practice the mental aspects of the game in such a short period of time. See a proud tear in my eye (whoops, that's just some leaking hydrolic fluid). Protege #1 - That was by far and away the highest peak we've reached together in a long time and has renewed the belief in what we can achieve. For a while there, I actually stepped back mentally and enjoyed the show. I am so enthusiastically excited following this tournament that I actually want to play tonight - for those who know me, that should say plenty. Unfortunately the throbbing in my shoulder and the tingling sensation in my forearm are telling me to shut it down for a month or two. Going to be a hard pressed battle to see which wins out. |

I been trying to tell Rob his ranking position in Canada for years, bur he would not listen. LOL. Thanx Matt, that was funniest comment in long time. hahaha First, would like to thank Brian and his great staff for having such a great tournament. I really appreciate what you guys are doing for Canadian Foosball. Wow... since being out of the foosball tournament scene for a while, didnt know what great talent canada represents. Thank you Matt, Darrel, Joey and Christian for bringing out the best of me. Looking forward to next time. It was a pleasure meeting you Joey. You are one character i will never forget. Alright so I wanted to wait until I calmed down a bit before I made the second part of my post. However seeing as I'm still grinning like an idiot and I can't see an end to it, I'd might as well get it over with. First of all thanks again TD's (see above post). Darrel - I don't think I could say it often or loud enough THANK YOU. The insight into this game that you have provided me with recently had both reinvigorated my love of the game as well as taken my game to new heights. Joey - You're the man. I've never played with anyone who had as much (or more) intensity as me. I'll partner with you at the drop of a dime. Our epic singles match is on I won't soon forget. Jack H. - Awesome playing buddy. I threw everything I had at you and you came through it like a champ. I look forward to another shot at you. Matt/Darrel - Our matches stand out for me as the most difficult matches I've ever played. Also it's propably the most fun I've had playing this game ever. Lastly if you guys want to start flaming each other over who's in the top 5 find another thread to do it in. Frankly I don't want negativity like that attached to this tournament in any way shape or form. |

Thanks to Andy and Brian for organizing and to everyone else who helped organized supplied tables etc etc. I had a blast and was thankful to have this tourney - no one else in Calgary would be willing nor able to put on a better show. |

Can you guys tell me if the new tables played differently than the marble tables? |

They did play slightly different Dave. They were very close with new men, bearings and side strips. I couldn't tell you what exactly felt different but it but there was something intangibly different about it. |

how differently? i hear that the release points on a brush pass are all different along with the catching points. I am assuming though that after a few games it won't even matter, you just adjust to it. Tuan tells me that its just not the same at all. |

Yeah, after a few games you get used to it. In fact I actually prefer it now. Catching a lane pass or a hard uphill takes a little more cushioning than previous. The release point on the brush pass is a little different, maybe a little more forward (a hair maybe). With the combination of the new balls/men and the surface the brush pass seems to pop a little better for me. It seems easier to get a steep angle on the ball. |
