Topic: Tuesday Night Tournament Edmonton

Author: Will Original Message Posted: May 21 2009 12:53AM

Tuesday Night went really well. We had a really good turnout of quality foosball players, with literally no true beginners playing. It is pretty sweet playing with this group actually.

I realize now that I made a stupid mistake asking people if we could do a redraw. For the record I didn't do that because i wanted a better draw, I was pumped to draw Ben and was actually saying his name out loud when the first draw was done because I wanted it to be him. I decided to ask about the redraw because it seemed all the pro's drew other pros and it wouldn't have been a very fun tournament for any of the rookie players. Those guys are the reason we have a foosball scene right now, so if there is anyone we need to keep happy its them.

No one has complained about the fact that we drew a second time, and no one seemed unhappy even, but I still felt horrible last night and it kept me up thinking about it. Anyway, I am paying next weeks entry fee for anyone who didn't win money in the tournament yesterday. Garry, Tobin, Sam, Christian, Lindsay, Ben, Shane, Desmond. Sorry to the pro's who drew other pro's and were pretty much guaranteed a payout.

Anyway the tournament went really good once we did the redraw. I think any of the teams that were drawn had a good chance to win it.

As always the brackets are on netfoos.com. It is really cool to check the head to head results, this might start some arguements.

Some cool ones i found:
Zak vs Chad, Zak has 5 wins, Chad 0
Chad vs Lindsay: Chad 3, lindsay 2
Lindsay vs Ben: Lindsay 3 - ben 0
Ben vs Zak: Ben 3 - Zak 0

Thats a funny sequence...

Roger vs Garry: 7 to 7. That sets the stage for an epic match next time.

Another good one.. Remember Justin, the guy who came down for a few weeks but had never seen a snake shot before?
His record against Simon is 2 and 0. Not bad, considering simon has the 4th best winning percentage in our tournaments history.

Sam has beaten paul 4 times out of 6, and paul has beaten rick in all 4 of there games. Rick has beaten sam 3 out of there 4 games.

Roger has the most total wins, with 48, but Garry is right behind him.

Garry is first in money earned, but Ivor is first in money earned percentage for the amount of tournaments played. (averaging $22.50 per tourney)

When all is said and done though, the most impressive stat (i hate to stroke FLC's ego like this) is the Christian has won 50% of the tournaments he's entered.

Interesting statistics. The fact that they reflect mostly DYPs including several pro-am DYPs make them somewhat irrelevant but interesting none the less

While we're talking irrelevant statistics:
The only person I've lost to in singles is Garry.

As far as the DYP is concerned I don't think it was a big deal. I know I was asked about re-drawing and said yes. That means I don't get to complain about it later and I don't intend to. I was really upset with my performance and the fact that I let my back pain take me out of my game mentally and played the stupidest possible foosball but I didn't even think twice about the draw. I was upset that I let my partner down and didn't play even close to my potential. Your reasoning for redrawing was valid and I'm sure everyone will agree. I don't feel that I'm owed a free entry into the next tournament and I don't intend to accept one. Thanks anyway. I do appreciate the offer.

Booz,
Is Garry the only person you've ever played in singles?

Are your dyps not utilizing handicaps?

Author: BoozeFoos Reply #5 Posted: May 21 2009 1:23PM

We've only had one singles tournament

I agree with Lindsey- the only person I've beaten twice in singles- ...You don't have to pay our entrance fee for the next dyp.

The original draw was a little unfair(even though it was a draw)-I was looking forward to playing D 4 a change with Lindsey in the original draw.

Being as humble as I am it's hard for me to take your compliments without feeling they are a tad undeserved as there are many great players in our scene.........

An even MORE impressive stat would be 10 TOP 3 finishes in 13 tourny's ;)

Oh and a 75% overall win percentage in games isn't too shabby.

The tourny win percentage is at 53% as well if anyone is keeping score.

BRING IT!!!!!!!

Christian is easy to beat.... it just takes six games

And a couple extra serves that he never knew were his...lol
