West Edmonton Mall is letting us set up a display/demonstration to promote foosball in the mall. The display will consist primarily of one foosball table in the middle of a roped off area. We will have tables/booths set up with fliers for the upcoming Nationals in Edmonton, invitations to play in our weekly Tuesday Night DYP, and much more. There will be a "Beat the Pro" competition from which Garry pointed out could be called "Beat the Rookie" but that doesn't have the same effect. Members of the Edmonton Foosball League(or tournament players from other cities) that are attending will be given matching shirts so that people can pick out who the tournament players are. We will have a streaming video feed to a big screen TV on the side, which will help attract attention. The date that has been confirmed is Saturday August 8th, and we will have the display set up in "a high traffic area, level 2 beside Banana Republic." What do people get if they "beat the pro"? Maybe a T-shirt? or money? I think it would be a nice incentive to generate interest (aside from the loud banging when you score). You wouldn't lose a dime or any shirts at all because the general person would never be able to beat someone who plays at a decent tournament level. Umm, the reason why I ask is because I was thinking about taking the kids to West Edmonton Mall this summer and it would be an overly good reason/excuse to do that all in the same time frame. (Plus, would actually get me to do it. :p) Not that I would expect the date to be changed just for lil ole me....:p but KY weekend does kinda suck. Not that anyone else out west goes or anything. I know that for Sam, Ben, and Tobin this is a lot better and they are very good at promoting foos. Hopefully this works better for you too Moya, I know its the same weekend as Washington State.
