Topic: TS Table

Author: S. Edwards Original Message Posted: Sep 19 2009 7:15PM

I think the table I have was put together wrong and I can't remember the correct sequence. On the TS table next to the man was it a plastic washer/bumper/metal washer or metal washer/bumper/plastic washer.

My table has the pastic washers to the outside and I think it should be the metal ones. I seem to remember a clinking noise when you shook the 5bar.

Anyone know for sure?

I thought metal was outside but what would I know. My memory is like a particularly holy [sic] piece of swiss cheese.

Metal washer next to men (inside) & plastic against wall (outside).

The metal clanking of washers was infrequent - not constant; only happening when the bumpers got separated from the men by a couple inches occasionally.

You can rationalize this set-up because the stronger (metal) washer needs to be next to the men which have a smaller surface hitting the washer. The washer against the wall doesn't need to be as strong.

The plastic washer should have beveled edges on one side and square edges on the other. The beveled edge should go towards the table wall and the square edge against rubber bushing, otherwise the washer will hit some screws that secure a bushing onto the wall and it's bad, reducing the lateral play until the washer wears down ect.

(ps. front pins totaly rock on that table)

Thanks for the input. I could have sworn the metal was to the outside but like Tim, I am in my 40's and my memory was the second thing to go
