I think those points might be inaccurate.
My points at the beginning of the year were both below 1050. According to USTSA, i would have gained over 250 points in doubles and lost 100+ points in singles. My points after HOFC were also both below 1100 and even had i done well at worlds last year (which i didn't, no rollover, shit tables...) i wouldn't have picked up 184 pts. Even using Mury's ELO formula it's wrong especially since i haven't played open events in awhile - not since you and I were top 16 in OD last march. I dont really care but it's a point of consistency and principal as i've done better in SP and up events than AM events. Besides, it's too many events for me.
Linda is a good example. She is ranked higher in her one and only USTSA tourney than players like Tommie Bagley, Melissa Kegg, Audrey Pelletier, Deliza Baumbach, to name a few - all of whom have placed higher since last March but are all still AM in the points book. She played in NP womens singles and didn't crack top six yes has more singles points than above ladies. She played in NP mixed and OM but never got in the top 12 of either. I think it's pretty unfair to Linda after one tournament (where she wasn't in the top 6 of any events) that they ranked her SP the way they did.
The funniest thing is that they have her ranked along with Moya as a SP. Linda has improved but is no Moya. I'd take Linda after Moya had about oh, say, 2 drinks though. Or in about a year straight up at Linda's current levels of improvement

To be fair - i finished 5/6 in NP Women's singles 
But yes...i went from low 900's in womens points straight to 1920 womens points (1320 traditional) after only playing in the HOFC. It's not right, nor is it any where near accurate.

Their point system has always been crap. I had a tournament one time where I lost every match I played - I went up in points.

I agree, the points are buggered, somehow I went up 200+ points in both singles and doubles and I only really had decent results in doubles.
Linda can probably blame her rank on Matt for those wins in Open Mixed. Nothing like beating some PMs to screw with your points.
Tony can probably blame our Open Doubles finish for the bump to semipro.
Someone needs to take another look at these points.

Open Mixed does not count for points, as far as I have read on ezboard.
You can always email Ed Geer incase of a huge discrepancy, as in Linda's case.

Really? I always thought that they did. I've never played the event, so you probably know better than me.
I just can't find another reason behind her jump in points and rank. The only other reason would be that they counted her VIFA matches, but that I am certain that they don't count.
I think you are right though, Ed Geer should be contacted about it.

I e-mailed Ed for Linda. Her points are out of line. She is now ranked semi-pro but they left me as a amateur. Sounds fair to me.

I could be wrong about Mixed, I always thought they counted to, but they are having a discussion on the board about it and it was mentioned that they are not being counted, or won't be in the future (tons of conjecture over there).
That many points is a huge increase, and in the case of elo, I believe Matt would probably get 60% of the elo points for mixed if it did count since he has the higher rank. Anyway you slice it, not adding up.
Some food for thought on how they run things, my worlds package was paid for by someone else (a non-fooser, never played foos in their life), when I showed up that person was in the points book as a semi-pro and was called for matches all weekend (even after I told them the situation).

In singles, im on the brink of being bumped to semi...but my doubs points aren't so... If i get bumped up in singles, does my doubles rank get adjusted as well?

Dave, the answer to the question is: most of the time. I was told it was done on a case by case basis but more often than not you do get bumped up for both events.
The same thing happened to me. A year or two ago I had 1305 singles and 1050 doubles and I was ranked semi-pro.

I emailed Ed this morning(got his email address off of the foosball.com forum profile). Broke down my situation and asked him if he could provide any explanation. Haven't heard anything yet though.

Ed got back to me. Said he'd see to it that my points got reversed. Apparently they took into consideration the ITSF points/rankings from the Canadian Nationals tournament (which really shouldn't be considered for the women's event - it was for shits and giggles )

Ya that is crazy. I'll talk to Ed and let him know that should not count. We didn't submit the results fom any event, which means they are taking it off the itsf site. You are good Linda, but being semi ahead of those other girls is crazy.

yeah i know jeff, but im on the brink of 1400 in singles, so say i do well at the hall, then i'll be over the point threshold in singles for sure right? then what in the doubs? I haven't heard of players being different ranks in singles or doubles...

Dave,
You'll stay in your current rank for the entire year. They will only change your points for seeding purpose. Even if you cross the line between Am and Semi after the HOFC you won't move up for worlds. So make your run at Am while you've got the opportunity cause it might be your last.
