Not according to the charts Will. I gotta trust the chart over some random poster, even if they are the tournament director.

1st place open doubles:
Matt Botros and Brian Leoppky

2nd: Will Stranks and Ben Wilkins

Great venue and event guys, I had a blast, and there were some great tournament moments. Including, but not limited to, me taking a foosball in the teeth and some random spectator taking a foosball to the nuts. Some good foos was played too.

Warrior is a bit of an adjustment, but overall it's a promising table, I just hope they come out with a tournament model before long.

Thanks for getting this together Will and the guys!

Great job EFL! Another high quality tourney. It ran very smooth, great venue. Like was said above Warrior table is promising but does need some work still.

Congrats to Will and Ben for finishing second!! Big accompishment especially when running the tourney. Congrats also to Craig and Eric in singles.

Clearly Ben and Will are now bumped up to Pro rank. Congrats you guys.

Great job Will and EFL, you guy put on a hell of an event. The venue was awesome, having some it in the mall was a great idea. It was great exposure for the game and your league. I'm sure you'll pull in quite a few regulars from that.

Thanks to everyone who came in from out of province. Thanks to everyone who helped setup and run the event, it really looked like the EFL puts out a team effort on running these events.

Congrats to all the winners. Craig, that 2-bar of yours is really something buddy. Wish I could have pushed our match into a second set there but you played great.

On the Warrior table, I think it's got a lot of potential if they iron out some of the issues. By Sunday I found that almost all of my game had transfered over. I thought that the table really stiffled 2-bar production. Then I played Craig... Maybe I just need to get a better 2 bar.

All in all a great event. I'm looking forward to more great tournaments out of the EFL.

Wow, I need to proofread my posts...

I think Will being moved up to pro is definately right. This is by no means a slight to Ben, but I think that he should stay in semi for now. He's making some great strides in his game since I first saw him play but I think it's still to early to give him the bump to pro.
Opinions?

Don't matter to me, but Ben should be semi, i don't think he'll argue that either.

Author: Will Reply #14 Posted: Mar 29 2010 10:30PM

Ben and I were talking about this on sunday night... we both thought he should remain a semi-pro. He played really amazing in open doubles - clutch saves on so many game balls and meat balls, but he didn't win semi-pro singles or doubles. Ben has played only 3 tournaments in his life also:

Calgary Tournament last May:
3rd in no-pro doubles with Nate
2nd place in semi-pro doubles with me.

Nationals last October in Edmonton:
1st in Rookie Singles
2nd in Semi-Pro Doubles with me.

Pathmark Games Open last weekend:
2nd place in Open Doubles
2nd place in Semi-Pro Singles
3rd place in Semi-Pro Doubles with Jaimie

One thing is for sure, the guy wins a lot of trophies... In less than one year and never leaving the province he has come a long way, but in my opinion he should not be bumped up yet.

This tournaments semi-pro class was weak, probably because of our limited time frame which made me not let rookies play in semipro.

I do think that Tobin should be bumped out of rookie now though, he has proven that he deserves to be a semipro. Very consistent throughout the whole weekend.

Maybe Dylan Phuong also?

Any thoughts on these two players?

Author: Will Reply #16 Posted: Mar 29 2010 10:33PM

Oh I didn't mean the semipro players themselves were weak, I mean having only 5 players in SemiPro Singles is weak. Just to clarify.

Author: The Next One. Reply #17 Posted: Mar 29 2010 11:31PM

Yeah, I think Tobin should go semi too.

Author: Desmond Reply #18 Posted: Mar 30 2010 12:03AM

I think that Dylan Phuong should remain rookie. Dylan and Jordan played really well and took some key players out (Roger and Mike), also took a game off of Tuan and Simon. However, I don't think that he should be semi yet until he wins a rookie singles event, or is in the money consistently? He was having a little bit of trouble with his roller on the Warrior. I think at the semi-pro level there should be a lot of consistency with passing and shooting. And, I'd like to face him again in the rookie division because we had some tight games. Dylan played very well all weekend - great guy as well!

Author: Pushshot Reply #19 Posted: Mar 30 2010 2:28AM

I am a key player. lol

Wouldn't change a thing,Except for a blue man.lol
Had a great time,it was a hoot.:)

Thanks all.
We must all do it again, soon.

ps. Ben should be semi,Dylan & Jordan played awesome.

Author: Darcy Reply #20 Posted: Mar 30 2010 12:48PM

I say we make a new player ranking called the "key player" category. I also suggest we move Rog from Pro to "Key Player" as soon as possible.

Author: what the Reply #21 Posted: Mar 30 2010 1:52PM

yes, with the 'mon' prefix it would be perfect for Rog

Author: The Next One. Reply #22 Posted: Mar 30 2010 2:19PM

Why did so many of you no show in singles?

Author: University of Foos Reply #23 Posted: Mar 30 2010 3:03PM

I talked to Matt, he had family commitments in Edmonton. The rest ???
