WOW!!! Total K-U is bonkers!!!!

|
So, are the shots real or CGI?
|
|
I'm glad you asked, Fred.
I've suspected it's CGI right from the first time I saw this - but I didn't want to speak because I don't really know the table.
I hate it when people who have never touched a Tornado table yell "FAKE" whenever they see a clip of Rico or Zeke on the table.
But what the hell I'll say it: FAKE!

Looks real to me ... did you click on the "PICK A TRICK" at the end?
|
|
I'm not convinced it's CGI - I suspect if you set up a camera on the table and try these tricks 50-500 times, you'll execute them once. Then you "print" that one and stick it in the video.
As for Brundlefly's assessment that they are real, I remember him telling me that he thought Raquel Welch was all-natural.

Um... if you look at the physics of the ball, everything looks sloppy. The speed of the bar/man doesn't match the speed of the ball, clearly fake. Not saying that these tricks are impossible, but no one's going to sit there with a camera for 10 hours trying to pull them all off. Unless you're Will..
Speaking of which, I say we edmontonians put some time in and make a trick shot video of our own in response to this. Maybe stuff that's actually doable in a real game. Who's with me?

|
Slop isn't a trick...it's more of a god-send.
|
|
I'm not sure that applies to what I was saying in anyway but I can't argue with your logic!
|
|
Clearly real .

First of all, let me say that I still think this is indeed a "Cool Commercial" and it's great that someone spent all this time and money on a foosball-themed marketing campaign to coincide with the world cup. Even if they did use CGI, it still has a genuine foosball flavor to it.
Yes, I looked at all the clips multiple times when the commercial was first posted – does anyone really think I’d call “FAKE!” without doing so? Anyways, here goes…
Behind the Scenes: 1) The goal of this marketing campaign is for the YouTube video to become ‘viral’. The “Behind the Scenes” gives it more credibility. I contend that CGI was used in the Total K-U clip to make everyone believe it’s real. I think the actor was instructed on how to move the bars & the ball was added in later. 2) What’s the name of the good-looking actor (& foosball player?) who did the Total K-U. Why does no one recognize this actor/player who completed the best-trick-ever while under the pressure of being filmed? I was expecting to see Alan Cribbs or Bruce N or someone do the actual trick while the actor pretended. 3) Jim Waterman has linked to this commercial on his site but has not said anything else about it. I think he was a consultant to propose plausible tricks to use for the commercial and he’s sworn to silence about the filming details. Again I think the commercial is great & if this was Jim’s level of involvement I’m ok with that too.
Total K-U: The multiple changes in lateral direction have me skeptical. The ball is tossed from off-table and is travelling left to right. After it’s kicked to the 5-bar it’s now moving from right to left laterally and on the 3-bar it reverses lateral direction once again. Too much happening there for me.
The Header: The ball 1) seems to lift off the table for no reason when kicked by the 3rd man 2) seems to travel through the goalie rod after bouncing off the back wall and 3) seems to have too much forward momentum after the header.
But still…COOL TRICK SHOTS all around.
I have no desire to squelch any popular culture pro-foosball momentum that this viral video may afford us. That’s why I haven’t posted any of this on the bigger US foos boards or in any of the YouTube comments. I find it funny that many of the YouTube comments question the usefulness of the Nokia product but no one is questioning the foosball. I hope it stays that way.
It should get lots of attention once the World Cup starts.

They screwed up the "off the rails" shot. It starts with blue's 3-bar hitting the ball forward into the wall which would send the ball on the rail back to the blue goal. Instead, the camera cuts and the ball is travelling towards the red goal. The shot doesn't even make sense starting on a 3-bar.

Conundrum - what if a buddy gave you the inside scoop but swore you to secrecy?
Giving away what really went on is not an option!
Interesting dilemma...
or if people just took their captain crunch secret decoder rings from 30 years ago (i still have mine) and look at the capital letters in this message they might be able to figure out the secret clue?
naaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Gee, 3D CGI mentioned right in that phonereport.info link.

OK Sherlock Homies,
For our next fraud exposure we will be turning our attention to the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and professional wrestling.

Wow good article find Johnny - I guess that's pretty definitive.
But...but...
I figured it out using only good old observation skills & common sense.
You figured it out using (my) observation skills & common sense plus Google.
